+1, even if they had to require the viewing players to be docked at a station.

This would be a first step into opening that sports bar I've always wanted to see in the Sedina H-5 station.

I think the rider should be required to be docked while viewing the pilot's HUD. This would prevent most abuse cases.

It would also prevent this suggestion from ever seeing light of day. Imagine the dev-time involved in that!

It would be much simpler to add a single forward facing unarmed turret to all ships (call it copilot) and let a /gunner join it.

All deaths apply, if you are copilot you die too. If you are in space by any means, you die too if shot?

[Edit - yes I would rather edit a post than make a new/double]

If you think showing another player how you fly teaches them anything you are wrong. Kill them a lot till they stop dying.

share a view will not teach noobs everything. At some point they will still need to practice. But I think it would be very instructive.

I do not really care if you are required to be docked, to share someone else's view. I can see the humor in a griefer talking a noob into sharing his view, so that they watch as he destroys their ship. lame, but i doubt the noob will fall for it very many times.

Pizzasgood posted a suggestion for passenger transport, that would include sharing views. This thread is specifically designed to make transporting players and and sharing player view independent issues.

From the dev's perspective, adding a "copilot" turret may be an easier implementation, allow both transport, and if not exactly a shared view, at least a forward facing view. It just should not be usable for turret weapons.
