Helios redux

Jul 31, 2015 Niki link
Step 1: Remove the Wormhole that links Helios with Pyronis, turning Helios into a dead end.

Step 2: Increase the attractiveness of mining and trading in/with Helios.

Step 3: ???

Step 4: PROFIT!!!

lol, good one.

Why? Not that I disagree with creating dead end systems, but Helios doesn't have anything of value beyond providing a third entrance into Serco space.
Jul 31, 2015 abortretryfail link
That's why step 2 exists.

I don't disagree with the concept, I just disagree with it being done to isolate one system. Trade is in desperate need of a complete redesign. Mining I don't much care for, but don't see too big an issue with the current ore distribution.

Besides, isn't this type of thing part of the long term goal of new unexplored and more dangerous systems with new rare resources?

I mean there is such a f-ing abundance of almost everything that trying to make one system more valuable than the rest just seems pointless to me.

This isn't a suggestion to slightly improve trading/mining, but to deal with the imbalance of Serco having two grey space wormholes vs the Itani having only one wormhole.
Step 2 is only there to give Helios a reason to exist beyond that and a dead end does create a nice place for conflict.

so life is treating you unfair,
poor smurf.
Aug 01, 2015 rochelGoyle link
so your vision on fair is to take away the one advantage that Serco has over Itani?

fix deneb first then we can talk about cutting off helio from Serco space...
Aug 01, 2015 abortretryfail link
It'd take a lot more nerfing to accomplish that, rochelGoyle. Namely removing the SCP and putting the SVG back to the way it was a couple years ago. But that's not what we're trying to accomplish here. Calm down.

What this is about is driving player interaction. Vendetta's strongest point is its combat, the game needs to do a better job of incentivizing it.

If the war convoy blockades were more effective and got in peoples' way, there would be more incentive for players to fight to destroy them, instead of just walking around.

Now that is an argument for separating Helios from Pyronis that I can get behind.

Removing the SCP?

Waaaaaah. Cry me a river.

Let's remove the Serco all-together. That should make things much more balanced.

Or just seal off all connections to red space... let the serco remain, but they can't get into the rest of the universe.

We can deal with that imbalance when we remove about three Itani systems.
Aug 01, 2015 Death Fluffy link
I've always considered the excess Itani systems as more of detriment than an asset. +1 to both
Aug 03, 2015 tarenty link
Agreed ^ +1 to both.

I would think if you could put up a proper blockade without the help of NPC ships you could do this on your own, let the NPC ships blockade A-10 and let the Elite Itani ships blockade Helios.

I have watched the silliness that is 2 NPC cap ships along with 1 or 2 player dents plus their fighter pals making it almost impossible for anything more than 4 or 5 ship convoys to get in or out.

I go to Serco space to get SVG because that in my opinion is the best fighter I can get being UIT. I don;t care about your Itan/Serco conflict but am unable to get the ships I prefer because of the everything but the kitchen sink blockade hence I go through Helios.

Summary: go cry to someone who cares Mr I have an X1 and a fancy never miss a shot plugin

Plugins don't make you not miss.

Interrupting business with the Serco is sort of the purpose of the blockades.
