/vote mute abuse penalty

Since the /vote mute abuse is 100% likely to originate from vets or long term subscribers, the risk of losing your /mute vote permanently is a VERY effective at regulating its abuse and overuse. All it takes is the devs to make a single example of someone who has inarguably abused /vote mute and the abuse will stop full on. Whereas, with the other less effective /vote mute abatement suggestion that have been brought up lately, the abuse will still continue to be toyed with because it carries less risk to damaging one's gameplay.

You mean like how rape, murder, and theft never occur anymore in first world countries because there are now prison penalties for such actions?

In fact, I would like to think that the devs already do this, but of course they like pretending to be an evil shadow government who doesn't actually tell people what the consequences of their actions are, so we have no way to know.

You mean like this thread from a couple of months ago? Half the people posting here were on that thread. I clearly articulated policy. If people want to open support tickets over vote muting abuse, that's fine.

Why is this a new "suggestion"?

Because:

1. greenwall doesn't like the suggestion of removing guild/group chat from the vote mute penalty.
2. He argued for 7 pages against logic.
3. He lost.
4. He made this suggestion to detract from the good suggestion.

But the one really has nothing to do with the other. If people abuse the vote mute system, we will take administrative action. That isn't limited by anything in that other post.

Thank you for saying so, Inc. Maybe greenwall will finally let it go.

We're as confused as you are.

While we're on the subject though, what are your thoughts on removing the guild/group chats from a successful /vote mute?

To do so would:
1) eliminate a large incentive for abuse, reducing the likelihood of abuse requiring developer involvement.
2) allow players to get help from mentors about why they were muted, reducing the number of repeat mutes.
3) still effectively prevent chat spam from bothering the player base as a whole.

"You mean like this thread from a couple of months ago?"

Ah, I'd forgotten about the specific wording of that post. I was remembering it more as "We will do Undefined Bad Things To You." My bad.

We aren't really on the subject. There is a thread for that subject. I'll respond to it when I have time.

Everyone, let the vote mute thing go. I got over EP's abuse. EP will eventually get over the retaliation. Let Inc work on more good stuff for us!

LOL....Can't blame me for trying.
