FIx for multi monitors in Linux

I've run the game in a 3720x1200 wndow across all 3 before just for kicks and my old HD6870 handles it just fine. Usually it's just windowed 1920x1200 on the center display so I can have other things open.

Please just let me set a 'custom' windowed resolution in config somewhere without overwriting it... if it doesn't like my choice and looks ugly as sin that's my problem, I suspect it would be fine with a standard 4K resolution that it currently does NOT let me pick from the list or set in config... I swear VO use to let me set a custom resolution in config, but at some point (years back now?) it would overwrite it. There is NO good reason to ignore my custom resolution when in 'windowed mode'.

As is, I can't play VO even when I want to, and have been subscribed for years upon years at this point!

Also, yes I'm on nvidia proprietary driver... as I like to play other games (also of note other games on steam don't have this problem, ONLY VO). Included is a screenshot taken across the 3 monitors setup I have (1x4k main, 1x1200*1920, 1x1920*1080) with the VO video resolution picker choices.

Hope this clears things up a bit?

Yep, you're hitting the same annoying limitation in VO that everyone else is where it only allows windowed mode sizes that match video modes Xorg tells it about. The difference is, only the Nvidia blobs tell the game that all 3 monitors is a valid video mode like that. It's totally stupid.

Compare VO's list to the output of xrandr -q

You can at least work around it in the config file.

In the [refgl] and [gl4] sections, do:
xf86vidmode=0
xsize=3840
ysize=2160

What linux distro is this? lol

He appears to be using a tiling window manager. You can install them on any distribution.

I'm running Arch Linux, with Enlightenment as the window manager.

edit: xf86vidmode=0 did the trick :D Thanks ARF :D

Hmm well. I'd be much more impressed if you're running LFS, or even just gentoo.

I'm sure impressing you with which distro he runs is high on his list of things to worry about.

it's just flat out distasteful how some people install ubuntu and then be like "Ladies and gentlemen, look at my linux installation!"

AT LEAST he's not like that.

Unlike win/osx, there are many flavors of linux for many flavors of people... all of them are great in their own way (even Ubuntu, though it's not for me).

I have used Arch for the last 9 years or so and love everything about it! Prior to arch I was a happy gentoo user for about 4 years, and prior to that on slackware for about 7.

Have installed LFS exactly once, it's a great learning tool! I will probably force my future children to use it!

Anyhow, this topic is for discussion of multi-monitors in linux and my own issues are resolved, thanks everyone :)
