While you're busy swapping ports... Add these "new" ships!

Jul 25, 2016 Sieger link
Why not give us some versions of existing ships with new ports? Probably easily done and we have something to play with for a while.

Here's some suggestions:

abortretryfail's War-bomber Rag:

"Hellfire" Ragnarok Heavy Bomber
Armor: 20000
Weapons: 3 Large Ports, 2 Turret Ports (Aft and Bottom)
Mass: 18000kg
Thrust: 425N
Turbo Thrust: 550N
Speed: 65m/s
Spin Torque: 10.0Nm
Turbo Speed: 190m/s
Turbo Energy: 50/s
Cargo Capacity: 12cu
Sold at all capitol stations and the borders at Deneb.

Credit goes to abortretryfail. Just bumping his old idea cause it's gotten so much positive commentary.

"TPG Vulture Guardian UDV"
Armor: 9500
Weapons: 1 Large Port
Mass: 3700kg
Thrust: 240N
Turbo Thrust: 265N
Speed: 70m/s
Spin Torque: 7.5Nm
Turbo Speed: 220m/s
Turbo Energy: 60/s
Cargo Capacity: 0cu
Sold at: UIT capitol and outpost stations
Required standing with the UIT: +850 (Admired)

A second exclusive ship for the UIT with an unique porting: An armored Vulture with a single large port. The stats are fair for an exclusive newcomer. Suggesting this since the Itani and Serco have 4 exclusive fighter ships (I think it's even 5 for the Itani)? And the UIT have one.

"Valent Warhammer Revenant"
Armor: 15000
Weapons: 2 Large Ports, 1 Small port
Mass: 9500kg
Thrust: 400N
Turbo Thrust: 420N
Speed: 60m/s
Spin Torque: 10.0Nm
Turbo Speed: 200m/s
Turbo Energy: 50/s
Cargo Capacity: 16cu
Required standing with Valent: +650

A Valent ship, supposed to be the answer to the Axia Guardian Wraith. I know it has the same ports as the Centaur, though on this ship they're distributed differently. Being very slow it's meant to be a battle alternative to the Centaur models with possibly a higher agility in comparison which is the reward for travelling to UIT space to pick them up from valent stations.

+1 to the Rag and the UDV Vulture. Good ideas. The Rag one is sorta old. Strange it hasn't been added.

The Rev seems a bit OP.

+1, I like the ideas. Especially the large port Vult!

+1 to all them all.

-1 for now
they would need to have a hefty large license requirement to even be considered

-1 don't distract the devs from doing any work on Tridents S and P.

-1 especially on the Lport vult. It makes zero sense for such a slim and light ship as the vulture to carry anything heavy like gat or swarm.
Jul 26, 2016 Sieger link
We all float - Care to give a reason?

Space Pancakes - Alright. So you agree with the reason behind the Vult. What would need to be changed for you to agree with the ship aswell?

BigNastyone - I'm oppen to suggestions regarding the license requirements. Fire away if you have an idea. There needs to be reason to grind some more levels anyway.

joylessjoker - You -1 this because you want the devs to get working on other things? By that logic you'd have to -1 every other suggestion in these forums by everyone.
No one would equip a gat on that Vulture since that would probably be useless. And if they put a swarm on it, they'll be shot down way before they can empty all tubes... since it has extremely high turbo drain and can only go a max. of 220 m/s. That doesn't stand to be a counter argument, unless the pilot fighting it is extremely incompetent. This is at all not a "swarm and run ship".

+1 gives me more of a reason to grind a UIT char

Precisely, my dearie! All of the reasons why it doesn't make sense to slap a Lport onto a vulture with stats like this. If you're thinking about mega positrons, that's not good reason enough. We have a wide array of small port energy choices, and there's really no need to limit all of that to just one. Why would the UIT, a faction known for making choices to maximize their profits, do something awful to one of their ships?

The UiT have the Warthog TD and the UiT Maud, but apart from that little error, why the hell not? If they turn out to be too OP, surely they can be tweaked?

+ a lot

It's the Large port. I agree UIT need something. But think 3 small ports would make more sense than 1 large, since the UIT already have a fighter /bomber. I feel this could make the UIT compete with valks and proms. The Rev I have no suggestions for because I simply don't like it. Sorry. Don't see the need and seems OP.

joylessjoker - Okay. Then make some counter-suggestions for the stats if you think they're not appropriate. They make perfect sense to me, since this is not supposed to be a chaser, but a single large port fighter. With a Mega Positron Blaster or perhaps another new large port weapon (something in-kind of a Corvus Widowmaker, just for the large slots) it would make good sense. Saying there is enough choices for small port weapons is no argument for why it should not happen. I want something new that's not there yet so I suggested it. If you don't like it that's cool with me.

yoda - Exactly. Note that the UIT Marauder is useless. And the WTD can be bought by everyone, much like the SVG and the IBG but instead it's easier for Itani and Serco since nothing is mutually exclusive with the UIT...

Space Pancakes - Alright I see your point. But 3 small ports... I call that Valk and Cormaud. I suggested it because I wanted something unique that's not there yet. And another small patrol ship with a single large port sounded cool. As said above, the UIT could then produce a weapon on par with the CWM, just for large ports to put onto that defending ship.

I also see your point....

Just throwing this out there, what if it was 1 small port and had a turret. A vult designed to have a gunner CO-pilot with minor combat power still retained by the pilot.
Jul 26, 2016 Mi5 link
I would go as far to say a large port or turret vulture should have a slightly modified model in game in terms of overall length.

Space Pancakes - Yes, a good counter suggestion. But keep in mind that I want this ship as an unique second faction exclusive for the UIT. Considering the Serco and Itani have many more, I want it to have a certain strength. The small port and turret combo is a neat idea but would always require a gunner with some skill ready, or the ship would just be another helpless Centurion with wide wingspan. And considering the small playerbase, we're not ready for ships yet which cannot stand their own without a 2-man-crew. That's why I suggested yet another fighter, but with unique port distribution.

What is your specific problem with the single large port? You said before the UIT have the UDV as a bomber already but one large port really doesn't classify it as a bomber. In fact, it'd be the first light-weight fighter with the ability to use one big gun. The UDV is a brick. That's why I don't consider it a light-fighter.

Blaqk - Yeah I'm all for that but hestitant to suggest ANYTHING which has to do with designing something anew. Because that is unlikely to happen anytime soon...
Jul 26, 2016 Space Pancakes link
I understand that player base wise, turrets could be a fail. My main issue with the Large port, while admittedly unique, is something that both UIT "fighters" have. What role would this fill that the UDV or TD couldn't?

Turrets on a fighter, could make non-controller mobile players and newbs able to pvp in top tier combat if they had a decent PC player pilot. I guess you could do this now with an Atlas X, but I imagine a front mounted turret would be game changing in a good way.
