Black market station

Sep 21, 2016 bojansplash link
Everyone wants to have access to every ship in VO and a lot of people just want more variants of existing ships.
Why not mix all of that together, create a hidden black market station and up the game a bit?

Let’s call it Shadow Corp. Station.
It can be hidden somewhere in grey and devoted to selling Shadow Corp. enhanced equipment, weapons & ships.

Rules:
1. You can dock to SC Station when you find it (eventually pay an admission fee)
2. You can buy 3 ships offered on sale every 30 days and fully equip them with SC cells and weapons

Additionally, ability to buy some exclusive SC ships may be linked to doing missions for them so you will only be able to buy their stuff upon successful completion of the mission (bringing them parts they need for manufacturing their ships and equipment, eliminating competitors, raiding specific x npc faction convoys and bringing stuff back… you get the idea)

Just for example:

1. Weapons
- SC positron or neutron blasters with better targeting optics or weighting less or with better refire rate
- SC gauss cannon - less damage but with reduced weapon weight or reduced retire rate

2.Equipment
- enhanced powercells with replenish rate slightly above usual (51-52/450)

3. Ships
a) SC valkyrie V1 - better thrust & spin then X-1 at the expense of reduced armor
b) SC vaklyrie V2 - better cruise speed (70-75) at the expense of reduced armor
c) SC prometheus V1- less turbo drain then SCP at the expense of reduced armor
d) SC prometheus V2 - better turbo thrust then SCP at the expense of reduced armor

The above list serves just as a teaser, it could include a variety of enhancements/tradeoffs.

Would you guys find this kind of content fun?

Unaligned HAC crashed into roid in Sedina that serves as 4th nation capital could do everything you want and provide a better foundation then copy pasting a station.

Why limit it to 3 every month? It should be tied to station supply and nothing more. Supply and demand should be the only arbitrary limits placed on that.

That way we can start giving new and old players a reason to stay subscribed and logged in like S / P teasers, new combat ship options without adding new ships and a 4th option(gray usernames)

Place 4-6 missle turrets and a npc version of the S or P Trident to guard it.

Why only 3 a month? Also,+1 to lalala.

There are some old assets that are unused now. In A/B there was a station inside an asteroid that would be perfect for something like this. Also there was a system for setting up hidden stations and a way to find them.

Limit to 3 ships per month is arbitrary, it's just a suggestion that allows everyone to buy some and stop the players who amassed billions through various exploits to buy everything and cause "out of stock" scenario. Limit also adds to exclusivity (3, 5 or 10? who cares as long as there is some limit to it).

Trading of nation specific top tier ships to non sanctioned personnel goes against faction system. This suggestion opens a way to circumvent it slightly and allow their limited availability through new content.

Only if It were PLAYER supplied with a massive markup for facilitating the transaction.
I dont have an issue with the rats having access to equivalent hardware but this looks a lot like another attempt to circumvent the faction system.

+1 only if ships and equipment purchased have a small percentage chance of failing.(ie Blasters not firing, and ships exploding).

Only if it is not player driven. Adding more player driven content allows the factions of players that are already on top of the pyramid an even greater advantage. Not good for the game as a whole at this point, in my opinion.

+1 if player driven! Using the station-in-a-roid thing would be cool; is that like the station in Dau?

+1,

I think however, the things sold there should be hard, high quality manufactured items by players. This ensures a "rarity" of the station itself, and brings traders/miners into the mix of a black market.

If this is just an NPC station selling kewl shit many people will just make that a place to get ships every so often and be on there way. This creates an issue for community involvement of the playerbase.

If the station had merits to have real actual applications to the community, then it would be an awesoe addition, rather than a navpath to get good ships and fly back home.
