Trident Manu update

Oct 09, 2016 Hoban-Wash-Washburne link
I did a search and did not find a previous related posting. The announcement of the upcoming capships brought this to mind.

As ships are now considered cargo why is there a need for four docking bay assemblies on a type M?

I propose an adjustment to the build requirements to 1 docking bay and the same requirement be applied to future ship build unless there will be multiple entry points on the ship i.e. front and rear docking entrance. The only purpose four docking bay assemblies have at this point is to prolong the build process.

I'm open to valid reasons for it to stay four but I don't think there are any.

Even as an old captain who build his TTM when there was not Latos N2 or the short way to M7 or anything, I agree with this. It simply doesn't make sense to ask for 4 bays when there is only one.

So change it for all ships which only have 1 docking port. (In the long term, player controlled ships with multiple ports would be nice to have!)

I always thought docking bays determined the size of the cargo hold.

TBH,I plan on building a dent(eventually) And the upcoming models(also eventually)And it doesn't make sense to have 4 assembly's when there is only 1 dock. +1

Its a Docking Bay Hanger Assembly (not the docking bay itself!), meaning a Hanger kit for the docking bay. starblazzz got that right.

It make sense to build multiple DBHA to increase cargo capacity.

Vets correct me if I am wrong on this.

Originally tridents were 800cu and 4 docking bays for four ships. Due to people carrying 4 Xcs + 800 cu effectively making it 1600cu cargo it was changed so that docked ships took up cargo space space. So now that ships take up cargo space 4 docking bays means nothing other than more build time.

There is no sound in space.

They were ~360cu or something, then 600cu for a long time, then 800cu when ships became cargo.

There was a really stupid period there where you could only have 2 Ragnaroks or Centaurs docked.
