I mean, it would make 0 difference. If someone is determined enough to sit in a station all day then they are capable of going to any sector and just spacing themselves. Same deal, you cannot find them to kill them.

/ignore is your best friend. Use him like he is a slutty cow on a Friday night. Often and without prejudice.

-1; this is stupid.

A better solution to spammy f2pers would be to rate-limit chat on numbered-channels for f2p, with an option to temporarily lift the limit via crystal (lite subs should be unlimited, same as full subs). The rate-limiting should be based on total messages within a period of time, not a rigid delay between messages, so that people can speak several times in quick succession before getting silenced for a bit. That helps to minimize the impact to people who are actually playing the game, since most people who are actually playing use numbered channels in bursts, not a continuous stream.

@Faille: I agree with you when it comes to people who pay any amount of money to play the game. I disagree when it comes to those who do not. Restricting how much they can chat is no different from restricting which ships they can use and how often they can use them. Free players get a subset of the game, and they must pay for a full subscription to get the full experience. I see no reason not to treat unlimited chatting the same way.

Besides reducing spam and encouraging people to at least pay a dollar per month, this would also give them incentive to learn how to use sector and group chat. A good portion of newb chatter is legit communication that is simply happening on an inappropriate channel. Make global chat a limited commodity, and they'll have to start being more conscious of where they're chatting.

Topic - It's clear nothing will happen about it. Some people understand it, some won't because they are either not online when the hardcore chatters show up or because they don't actually login a lot to play the game. Vendetta Online is a combat Space MMO. That you have the option to chat and offend people (rape jokes, RL death threats, hours of annoying spam) and not be forced to back your idiocy with your guns surely annoys people. But it's just a game. I suppose reporting the offenders is the easiest approach.

I had a similar idea about rate-limiting f2p 100 access. Once the situation gets worse - and it will (iPhone release anyone?) -I'm sure it has to be considered.
