Remove Premium Ores from N-2 Sell List

Nov 08, 2016 neon black link
Mining ores yourself yields the highest quality ore. Fresh off the rock. It's my understanding that "premium" as opposed to the regular ores (that don't have any purpose at all) is that the ore is freshly mined.

I don't think they should be able to be sold from the N-2 station. Players only use that ore to exploit the mining badge anyways. And removing premium ores from N-2 would make mining a more lucrative playstyle, enticing players to engage with one-another in trade and commerce.

This thread fits in with my other thread "Remove Non-Premium Ores From VO Entirely" here: https://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/3/32181

Wow, I'm not aware that there is a faster way to get access to the mining moths! Thanks for the tip!

Being able to buy ore from the station is useful for players who have no interest in mining. Instead of not making the ore purchasable from the station, a better fix would be to make is so that ore purchased at a station does not count toward the mining badges.

The main purpose of this suggestion is to stimulate player interaction and give mining a much-needed boost in value. I know not everyone wants to mine for themselves. If miners NEEDED to be contacted and dealt with in order to complete manufacturing elements, I am sure we would see an influx of miners back to burning 'roids for the masses. I'm really not super worried about people exploiting the mining badges.

or maybe just prevent convoys from carrying premium ores? Some players can then sell it to n2, giving stock, but it will be more limited that way; selling stuff to n2 ensures it remains in circulation a tad longer, should someone not care to market their wares.

I've sold over 100 million in premium ore's to players none of it from n-2. And if u use n2 for mining badges you still have to mine the same amount and kind. My opinion is keep the ore's in n2 they are pricey anyways, maybe even make them have higher prices.

Simply drop the requirement of having to mine and sell for the badge. I've always found that stupid. It's not a Mining and Selling badge. It's a Mining badge. First problem solved.

And even before N2 there was no serious player to player trade of ores. It's a problem of all the veterans already having thousands of ores and too few full subscribers going for a long term goal they need ore for.

I can settle for removing the bot supply of ore to N2. So that there would no longer be automatically added ore, but that players could still sell their ore to N2 and it would show up. Anything else would somehow go against the idea of the dynamic economy, to be honest.

I actually didn't know N-2 would automatically refill, +1 to FULLY player run refill of ores and items then.

What could be done is to raise the prices on ores and other items by an amount that would make it more lucrative for players to either sell to the station, or to mine and sell on the private market, this would make it fully dynamic, and players that wanted to sell ores on the private market would actually think it was worth the effort of spending time mining to have their own mining operation.

This creates a new problem. The reason for the sell requirement is to require more human intervention. Without it, you can just park a ship in an asteroid field and set it to mine and jettison, then set a timer for fifteen minutes. Then you can just alt-tab until it buzzes, move to a new roid, reset the timer, and alt-tab out again. Having it require selling the ore adds a greater level of involvement since you have to actually collect that ore and transport it somewhere.

And yes, collecting and transporting the ore is a part of the mining process. Mining without transport is simply masturbation.
