Increase license requirements for some ships.

Nov 10, 2016 Sieger link
Scrolling through the list of ships I noticed that some of the top fighters in this game are available to crazy low license levels. I want to suggest to increase those requirements for the following ships:

1. Serco Vulture Guardian, currently available at 3/3/-/-/-
- change this to 5/5/-/-/-

2. Centurion Itani Border Guardian currently available at 2/3/-/-/-
-change this to 5/5/-/-/-

3. Warthog Territorial Defender currently available at 2/2/2/-/-
- change this to 5/5/4/-/-

4. Corvus Vulturius currently available at 2/2/-/-/-
- change this to 5/5/-/-/-

5. Behemoth Heavy Miner currently available at -/-/-/1/2
- change this to -/-/-/5/9

It's crazy that some of the best ships of the game are available at such low levels. Especially the Heavy Miner which has 140 cu cargo space has silly low requirements. By the time you mined and sold 15k ore, you're at Mining license level 9 anyway.

I realize that this will close access to those ships for the free to play users. I do however believe that the ships left available to them are good enough to play this great game for free. If they want the good ships, they should pay to get them.

I agree when it comes to the Corvult (though, this is Corvus we're talking about, so maybe not). I don't think the SVG and IBG should require any more than 4/4/-/-/- though, tops. WTD would be fine at 3/3/3/-/-, and the Heavy Miner is fine as-is. I think it's good that there's a moth option available to F2Pers who are willing to put in the effort to get that badge without being able to use a standard moth or XC to haul the ore; it's a lot of work, and it's the sort of work that implies they are roaming around and probably getting shot at, which exactly what F2Pers need to be doing if they aren't going to pay for the game. The only change I'd like to see with the Heavy Miner is to just make it more clear in-game what the requirements are so that we don't have so many newbs confused about why they can't buy it even though they have the levels.

+1 sorta
The IBG should stay the same, usless you want to up the Rev C too, but the Svg and WTD should get a upgrade. Although maybe the Aeolus moth should replace the Bhm?

The heavy miners are controlled by badges so the levels do not really matter

Though, maybe the aeolus light moth can trade places with the BHM for f2p players?

It ain't broke so don't fix it.

Pizzasgood - So you agree when it comes to the Corvult but not when it comes to the SVG which is one of the BEST chasers in the game or when it comes to the IBG which is one of the most agile and dangerous light fighters? You don't agree with upping the WTD which is the best Hog that money can buy? Ugh. We'll have to agree to disagree then.
The ships at hand are among the best ships in the game. F2pers should not have them if they're not gonna support VO. Sorry, that's my opinion.

Same goes for the Heavy Miner I. It has room for 140cu. That's 20cu more than a normal Moth which requires - even at Corvus - a full subscription. The only thing I could accept is making the Aelous Light Behemoth available to f2pers. But that's it.

xperia - The IBG has more armor than the Rev C. But I agree the Rev Cs requirements could be highered to 4s atleast. I agree the Aelous Moth could replace the BHM

PaKetlle - Yes they do matter. While the Heavy Miner II requires Mining 12 (which is easily achieved when mining 100,000 ore), the Miner I requires Mining 2. That's out of proportion.

The_Catman - Yes it is broke. If we hand out too many good ships to non subscribed players, why would they go and subscribe? Right now a f2per could buy himself an IBG, fly to Latos M-7 with it and equip himself some LENB and a Hive Posi. And then waltz into B8 and fight the paying users with top gear without having paid even a penny to GS. I think that's wrong.

-1. I don't think that you should have to pay for such ships. Then f2p's won't even want to sub. I barely subbed as is. The main reason was because those crystals. If I had to sub to get the WTD, I simply just would feel like I was being cheated, when this game is supposed to be cross-platoform. That would make the game seem more pay to win. I don't agree with the BHM either, because that is the ONLY moth a f2p can get. Am I right? The developers made the game free to play on mobile for a reason. You already see how many disadvantages they have already. Why make more?
Nov 11, 2016 Stylezmaster link
Besides. Most f2p aren't THAT good anyways. Ones that use mobile controls, anyways. There are only a couple exceptions there. You can boom them just as easily if they were in an Ec-89.

Then f2p's won't even want to sub.

That's... completely the opposite of what I said and makes absolutely no sense. Of course they'll want to sub to get the top tier ships... to be able to compete with the other full subscribing players. This suggestion is supposed to be to the benefit of Guild Software, not to the benefit of the 15 year old who wants to play VO all day but is too stingy to pay the 10 bucks.

If I had to sub to get the WTD, I simply just would feel like I was being cheated, when this game is supposed to be cross-platoform.

How are you being cheated of the game being cross-platform when you can't buy WTDs anymore as a free to play user? The game is still cross platform. Just everybody on every platform would have to pay to fly the ship in question.

I don't agree with the BHM either, because that is the ONLY moth a f2p can get. Am I right?

Yes you are. And the Moth as a top class hauler should not be available for free. As I said, I can agree to the BHM (140cu) being swapped for the Light Moth (80cu).

The developers made the game free to play on mobile for a reason.

Yes, they were hoping to reach the young generation on their smartphones and give them enough time to test the game until they finally go and buy a google play card to subscribe... They didn't make it so you could get many top ships while not paying a penny.

Because killing you in a F2P ship is more fun :P
Nov 11, 2016 Sieger link
It'd be cool if you provided an actual reason for your disagreement, Einan. Preferably one that makes sense. Since you are full subbed, it's up to you which ship you fly.

And to be fair, you destroying my ships is very seldomly the case. It is mostly the other way around.

+1 Totally sound suggestion.

Most definitely Aeolus Moth should be swapped places with BHM I. Tung Maud can do everything else port wise.

Perhaps Biocom Vulture XT could be left as is. They would get 3rd best vult in game, and bring it back to life from under use.
Nov 11, 2016 Einan link
C'mon man the reason is obvious. The X-1,SCP,UDV are all 3 nations top tier ships, making the IBG,SVG or even the WTD require any license higher than 4 is just a shitty way of saying "wha wha give me more special ships, I paid for them!"

Sieger keeps forgetting about crystal. F2P/lite players have to use crystal for purchasing any of those ships. The crystal cost for a Behemoth Heavy Miner is higher and some low level ships. F2p/Lite players can get a max of 20 crystal a day, so if those moths are out there getting boomed, pretty soon they need to spend money on buying crystal. Which means they are paying customers.

I say we open all levels of lics up to all players and make the high license items cost boat loads of crystal for players who are not fully subbed. Example: make the hound cost 600 crystal. If some non paying player wants to save up all their crystal for a whole month to buy a ship, that is fine. When they lose it, I don't think any of us will complain.
Nov 11, 2016 The_Catman link
Sieger, do you really think that many f2p players have actually bought an IBG, been to M7 and equipped it with LENBs? Even if they did I doubt they would pose much threat to you.

Most f2p players who fail to become subbed players do so because they get sick of being pirated/griefed.

+1 on the pizzagood idea and +1 the light moth idea from seiger.
Nov 11, 2016 Pizzasgood link
I would be fine with making the Aeolus Moth a f2p-friendly option instead of the Heavy Miner, but I really don't have any problem with letting them access the Heavy Miner. It's a lot of work, and there should be at least a few things available to f2pers that reward such efforts. In the end, it's only the Heavy Miner, not an XC or Heavy Miner MkII. Soon we'll all have access to Goliaths as well, which f2p probably won't get either. So there's a good amount of reward for upgrading without having to block them from the Heavy Miner.

+1 many times over give people more of a reason to subscribe.
