Change the color of hive energy weapon blasts
Aesthetics are important to me. I suggest that the hive queen gattling cannon and hive positron blaster energy blast colors be changed to look different than their station-sold counterparts. I think white would be an awesome color change, but open to discuss it.
Along the same line of thought, i think Lotus swarms should be coloured differently from chaos.
Both +1; furthermore, there is a distinct lack of yellow, if i remember correctly. I push white for any "hive" gear (hive ion/positron/qgat), and yellow for locusts.
Why not? they did it for LENBs...

Give a little more variation, which is fun. But also gives some usefulness because you can better tell what kind of blasters people are using.

Yes, good thought. I've had this idea as well, but haven't elevated the priority on it. I'll see what we can do.
It's not as quick to change as I would like.. we have to create new visual-effect types, and then change the weapons to use this effects, so it has to be done offline and then patched-in. But it's not that huge of a deal either.

I'm so pumped about this change. Been thinking this for years. Very badass!!!!
Maybe I am missing something, but wouldn't it make sense that say a "hive ion blaster" would work on the same principle as the station sold ion blasters?

I would think the hive weapons should be the nearly the same color as their mass market counterparts.
The Hive Gatling, there you could argue for a difference. I see no reason why somebody couldn't make a "Gatling cannon" out of say 4 or 6 gauss2's, or neutron blaster, or whatever. They need not rotate, just chain-fire, so it is not really a Gatling cannon, but still achieves the desired effect. In such case, there would be no reason why the hive weapon would be the same color as the generic one.

Bumping since the swarms were recently changed and this seems to be along the same lines. This would also be helpful to determine which variant of weapon your opponent is using.
