Background chatter
To add to the atmosphere of VO systems and sectors being hives of activity, I suggest adding some periodic news flashes either in player chat or flashed across the screen background like some of the mission messages are.
Those messages could be pulled from the news feed, but should imo be relevant to the system or station in some way. They could also provide warnings in monitored space such as, "Three new murders reported in Nyrius". They should be most frequent in key systems like Capital systems and taper off until there are very few in Grey space where they might only announce commodities desired by stations or missions that the station is recruiting pilots to perform.
The default should be on once a player has left the training sector, but there should be an option for players to turn it off if they desire. Also it should be infrequent enough to just provide background noise and mood for the game rather than unwanted spam.

+1 to immersion; giving sectors and systems a bit more lifemis always cool. Sometimes Arta Cel can be too quiet.

+1 to more environmental and news messages.

Makes sense if it is only reported if a death has happened in Monitored space, because apparently they are always being watched anywho. Adds more dynamics.
