More items manufacturable

Jan 21, 2017 Skytex link
There should be more items for manufacture. With Incarnate's announced change to the economy, it seems that adding more items that could be bought, sold, traded, and hauled would be a good thing. To this end, +/- each item and give comments.

a. Avalon Torpedo Launchers : I've always wondered why the only torpedo in the game is a bot only drop. I mean where do they get them? They aren't labeled as Hive items (ie: Hive Positron, Hive Ion, Queen Gatlin etc). We should be able to produce these and sell them. We have all of these commodities that aren't used or are rarely used. The manufacture of these would increase trade in both commodities and product.

b. Law Enforcement Neutron Blasters : Again, where do the SF get them? Why do we have to murder cops, which is obviously not an intention of the game, to get a weapon? Let us produce these. If all stations were to switch to a dynamic economy, perhaps the station itself can purchase some to replace burnt out/destroyed units on thier ships to create more opportunity to make cash.

c. Synthetic Silksteel: OK, yes, it's one of the biggest limiting factors in Capshaw production. However, look to the future. If the Goliath is Manu, we will have two ships needing it. Capella will require even more. So, this would stimulate the economy greatly with the demand being so high. We have all the items to create it. Silksteel, chemicals, synthetic hydrocarbons, maybe some other stuff. This will put a demand for Goliath freighters to haul commodities to produce stuff to produce more stuff to haul etc. Puts cargo ships in space. Adversely, more targets for pirates.

I'll stop with these 3 for now.

And please, let these missions be placed outside of greyspace, or at least outside of the Conquerable stations.

Overall, these all will create a more fluid and active economy for VO. It benifits everyone as you'll have more for Manu guilds to do, more for pirate guilds to loot, and more for nationalist or anti pirates to protect.

a. -1 Though I do think it's rather silly that Arklans don't use them.

b. -1 These are weapons restricted to law enforcement use.

c. 0 Given the horrid work : reward that currently exists with VO manufacturing, I expect that killing Arklans would be faster and easier.

+1 to more manufacturing. I'd like to see some low work : high reward commodity manufacturing for trading widgets. Let's do something with all that ore we mine to level up with.

I do think avalons should also come from something else, but whatever it may be it has to be even more difficult than Arklans. A weaker avalon variant would be better for manufacturing.

You are not law enforcement, so the police force wont sell you Lenbs. The current mechanic for these makes sense.

While SSS collection is a drag, its a wonderful way for patient pilots to make a buttload of credits. Even more, we don't know HOW the hive makes SSS - and I'm okay with leaving it that way.

Even so, I too agree that more manufacturing would be a nice boon for us. It just shouldn't be these items.

Then, by all means, suggest other items. This is a discussion that really needs to happen. I just pulled 3 popular items that I think would move well. Ideally, I'd like to see all but base.commodities as Manu. It'd make that side of the game far more important, as rich players couldn't just throw dozens of ships and weapons away in a fight with no worry about consequences. This is an MMO after all and not Space Quake.

All for more Manu missions, but sorry don"t agree with any of these three.

Dilan's suggestion of a roid cooler would be something that could be manufactured.....why not make it a use for hive manifesto which are currently useless.

The n3 would be one. Wtf is the point of restricting it's sales if players can just buy in bulk? Any of the higher end weapons and ships in my opinion would do well as manufactured items. But this will never happen because for all practical purposes this IS Space Quake. There is a severe lack of scarcity and everything is extremely cheap and victory and death have little meaning beyond controlling the manufacturing stations at this stage of game development.

Definite +1 to more manu.

Avalons and arklans doesnt make much sense... But it is traditional. Its the icing to your slow sss grind.

So, no to manu avalons, but i would think maybe changing the name of an avalon to reflect their position as a hive drop.

Definitely no to sss manu, thats what drives the bottom rungs of the botting industry.

And yes they are called LAW enforcement blasters for a reason.

But maybe we could produce some manu missions which are simply a way to make money?

For example... Collecting a certain collection of ores and some special microchips to form into luxury electronics for sale.

Basically, the kind of manu that in reality exists in commerce today. Nobody really 'manufactures' anything they actualky want. Manufacturing in the real world is a way to turn product into more expensive product for the cost of time and energy, and for eventual sale.

There are manu logical items that could be connected and done in this way. Even could be things that are in the game already. For example why not gauss cannons? Yeah sure you can buy em at like 3,500 c roughly average, but what about being able to bulk manu 200 for the costs working out at 1,500c per unit, but takes a while?

This particular idea could be used to stimulate the economy by blurring the lines between manu and trade, and making those trade runs feel a little more real. You deliver commodities and manu your load, then fly it acriss the verse to your chosen client.

Also, if inc responds to this, i do believe that in fact this specific suggestion, if using only common commodities and weapons/equipment, could be put together and actually advanced by the PCC players. We could, with inc's approval, add this to the game ourselves without bugging the devs. Manu missions are mega simple hehe ive already complicar]ted them further on the test with bulk manu fitting into a story line. Barebones as yet, but a big idea needs time to grow.

IMHO just asking for more manufactured items is silly. Cause it means no ideas are be bounced off the VO walls. Instead make a suggestion like this (and then we get to see if the devs like them. And we the players get to +/- them even though i don't know if it does any good. ;-) ) in its own thread.

Corvus Prime is proud to announce access to our new Law Enforcement turret. Our engineers designed it to be powered by the cores of 2 standard law enforcement blasters. Due to our extensive research in Hive weaponry, we were able to increase the targeting capabilities of this turret, increase the velocity and reduce the delay. Only available to pilots will special standings.

Law Enforcement Turret
Damage: 1300
Velocity: 210
Delay: .12s
Mass: 1000
Targeting: Excellent
Grid: 16

Requirements: Bring us a bunch random stuff plus 2 Law Enforcement blasters and a Hive Queen Gatling Cannon.

EDIT: making a new thread for this ;-)

Haha Avalon Turrets. Not gonna happen, man.

The additional turret ideas are a bit daft hehe
