Tweak the Trident Insurance mission

When a trident is exploded, there is an insurance mission that is run for 500k to replace it. That is fair. Though I wonder where all the parts for the new Trident come from.

I suggest that for a insurance mission to be run, M7 will require itself to be stocked with trident parts (that it will buy from builders for a fair price). It will then state how many capital ships it can support via Its insurance program.

I know this might not get much traction from current capital ship owners, due to the time needed to build those parts and all, so I would be satisfied with just raw materials being required in stock at M7 (ores, SSS, SS).

The overall goal of this suggestion is to make sure capital ships just don't appear out of thin air magically.

Yes, this makes perfect sense.

I don't see anyone going to +1 this thread though.

Vendetta does not need more reasons for players to run away instead of fight.

So you think we should haul aprox 8000 SSS everytime we want a dent? your even more insane than the original plan to build one...

Maybe add Trident parts or the resources required for them to NPC convoys.

But still -1, I thought the community was drilling a desire for Capital Ships improvement into the developers.

lol, +1 to VOodoo!

and -1 to this - might as well just be forced to rebuild the trident from scratch every time it blows up - to hell with that idea...

Right now, tridents are far too easy to reacquire, leading them to be treated as throwaway ships. People don't cry about losing tridents since they can just warp back to M7 and instantly buy another one for a minuscule amount. Tridents need to feel way more valuable than that considering their stats and what they can do.

The initial build is the obstacle to a dent. If they're made harder to replace, they should also be made easier to build in the first place, and I don't see that getting changed soon.

Plus, the easier a ship is to replace, the more likely it will actually get used. I have a Goli perma-parked, 'cos bugger dropping 5Mil/ship.

play the game and build a dent first, joylessjoker.

@ abortretryfail Have you seen how many goliaths have been exploded recently, and how fast people replace them? People are dropping 5 mil a ship without blinking an eye. Clearly more realistic costs (credits or resources) are not going to be the deterrent for combat use that you indicate.

@Xeha My OP wasn't stating that trident owners would need to carry a ton of resources around.

I don't know about joylessjoker, but I have Trident, and the grind is not as hard as it used to be. Trident builders no longer have to travel 30k one way to the entrance dock each time they need to put something in M7. They are able to get a significant amount of their supplies from latos N2. Its not like they have to go to Verasi for hull panels anymore. So please stop overstating the grind.

M7 could also be stocked by NPC voys going to M7 (currently no escort missions go to m7). Which would give people another good reason to escort the ships instead of pirating them. It would be pretty awesome to see NPC cap ship traffic going to M7 anyways.

Plus continual stocking of the station could be profitable for newer players. The game could indicate what M7 is running low on, and players (that feel the grey space risk is worth the reward) would then haul items to it. There could even be a mission tree built that would give those players increased discounts at Corvus stations on weapons and ships.

Yes! And everyone would have fun doing more boring hauling for the capship he built and thought he could have forever when he wasted a ton of time building it beforehand!

No. lol.

-1 again to that "amended" suggestion.

Allow players to sell whole capital ships and leave the insurance mission in place.

Geez guys, the OP isn't suggesting that you need to rebuild the whole trident all over again every time you lose one. Wow, such passion and gross misunderstandings over literally nothing.

He is simply suggesting that the insurance mission needs to be teeny weeny harder. Maybe 1/100th of the initial construction with a higher insurance fee.

Actually this sounds realistic, +1

Station should be stocked with trident parts to be able to fulfill "insurance" trident replacement.

This could be solved by npc capship convoys "magically" hauling trident parts to M7. If station is out of stock on some parts then trident replacement request will be delayed until another convoy docks to deliver parts.

We have a ton of magic in VO so why not add some more?
