Degredation in Ion Storm

Feb 21, 2017 Luxen link
Since Ion Storms are meant to be a permanent phenomenon in certain asteroid feilds, make it so being in an ion storm lowers the charge rate of power cells and sheild recharge rates. Missiles, rockets, and light ships should be buffetted by currents within the ion storm. This applies to hive ships, too.

The heat rate should be diminished in storms, for those who would risk the storms for the rare minerals. Leave Mining rate unhindered.

As permanent storms are added, random storms should fade out, but not be eliminated.

+1 As much as I dislike and want them removed entirely, I've always thought there should be a significant affect on ships. This would justify the higher reward for hive skirmishes in storms.

-1 to improved mining unless the logic is the presence of the storm absorbs the heat radiating from the asteroid or something.

Also storms at wormholes and stations. They work great at the conq stations.

edited to make it more logical, as Death Fluffy's post.

I am of the opinion that the storms should have a variable intensity that builds to a peak and then fades away. Any side effects to the storm should also vary with its intensity as well.

for permanent storms, make it so that the ion storm doesnt fully fade, just gets to a weak spot? ooh, VO weatherman spouts info about Ion Storm high/low tide! :D

Not broken, doesn't need changing.

I do think some kind of additional effect within a storm is a good idea. Currently its what, radar limited to 500m and unable to jump excelt from the storm exit point? Sounds minimal. Maybe something like having the storm eat away at your hull real slow. Something like 1 hp per 10 seconds or so.

I like the gameplay logic for recduced heat in the storms, maybe you could argus that as the ions charge the roids, the roids would share the heat.... In effect meaning they all start off at like 20k temp, but increase in temp at a rate of 50% normal speed. Or similar.

Definiteky a good idea to explore the idea of making ion storms a simultaneously lethal minefield of hazards, whilst improving the bounty to make a 'rich feeding ground' for them bot sharks hehe

Maybe improving the likelyhood of drops in a storm too, like having a bots usual likelihood for what they drop unchanged, but have more drops on death. Specifically, killing a queen solo in an ion storm is not easy at all... Wouldnt it be nice if they had improved drop rates to make this worthwhile?
