make Valk Rune useful

This ship was supposed to be a specialized high-speed courier.... but... it failed! and has no practical use whatsoever!

I suggest several things that could make this should great again.

L-port:
give the rune an L-port, with either no S-ports or a single S-port along with it
the uit/serco both have nation-specific L-port ships (prom and UDF)... both serco and uit got fast (valk-equivalent speed) ships with the SVG and UDF, there is an imbalance here that could be addressed
most trader-type weapons are L-port (eg, mines) and a high-speed courier with an L-port makes more sense then one with 3 small ports (you are not going to stop for some combat while on a courier run).

Integrated sensors:
give the rune some integrated sensors like the hound/raptor
since hound/UDF already have integrated cargo scanners, I suggest give then rune integrated storm/radar extenders to differentiate them a bit

Max speed:
make the rune 225m/s and/or lower the turbo drain
there are 220m/s infini-turbo ships out there already, the rune has the lower 220m/s and drains like the high-speed models, either make it match the other valk top speed or reduce the turbo-drain to make up for it

My own recommendation would be:
1-Lport, integrated ion storm extender and/or mineral scanner, 220m/s infini-turbo or 225m/s with current drain

You want a lower-teired Valk to be better than a higher-teird valk?

Id say, if it is a high-speed courier, give it an integrated scanner blocker, and alter the speed (though specifics of that are left to others who use valks), without actually bumping it beyond the top valk model.

Valks never struck me as made to carry heavy weapons - thats kinda an itani thing they mention during the tutorial phase, right? I dont think the rune should use a large port.

If you want a swarmvalk, why don't you just say it aloud?

Wow. So being able to equip a valk with swarm isn't enough. You also want it to be as fast as a fucking hound. We've been all there and done that, there's a reason hound got nerfed to 2S ports.

Just give it 220 infiniboost and 8 cargo or better 12 cargo and one less S port.

Doesn't need to be great.

Infini boost ships all around need to be limited to 200. If you want to go faster than 200 it should cost with turbo drain unless its the hound.

I say give it more cargo and 1s 1l port layout with a storm radar. That would make it useful, probably more for botting than courier but to each his own.

Oh em ge Drazed!

No Serco ship does 70 m/s. None, nul, cero, нуль, 零, صفر. Itani have a ship that does 70 m/s, Serco have a ship with a large port. Sounds balanced enough.

How about this, give the Rune and Prom Mk III turbo drains of 52/s. That way you can infiniturbo with them if you slap the (currently useless) Extreme Drain cell on them.

Aye infiniboost needs fixing but in the short term if he rune is to be made "useful" all it needs is a bit more cargo space 6cu is ridiculous for a "cargo variant".

i use the valks in my PCC testing, i think it just might need two S slots and either a scanner blocker or a storm radar, and way more cargo space like lord~spidey said 8-12 cu space. i hardly use in for turbo reasons so no idea

Its a lower tiered ship - its suppose to be less then good.

More cargo is a valid point but the rest of the buffs are a bad idea.

Anywho buffing the cargo to eight is a safe buff and will have no one complaining.

And it is totally underused can't hurt to buff it a bit...

You guys know it used to be infiniboost and have more cargo, and those attributes plus people giving a shit about CtC are exactly why it was beaten with the nerf bat...right?

If we keep making all the normal ships special, what happens to the special ones? We could use the argument you are using for any ship. Prom Mk2 is useless once you get a skyprom, Itani's already get 1 more special than the Serco (X-1). We do not need more of this imaginary balance tyvm.

To me it's not about imaginary balance as much as to try to give more ships specific niches as to make the game more diverse in terms of what people fly.

Prom Mk2 is useless once you get a skyprom

It's a hell of a lot more useful than the Rune is for a fighter with increased cargo capacity.

Unly way the valk rune would be useful would be running a 6cu widget somewhere something an ec 107 or hog 2 would end up doing better at because of the infiniboost.
