UIT Reactive Hive and the Capella

Heya, Just some random ideas

So... The hive in game could do with some expansion, in my opinion.

I had the thought earlier of a hive in uit that is related to the size of the hives elsewhere. It could have hive skirms offered by multiple factions a bit like how xang xi and corvus share the missions for grey hives.

It could grow, for example, based on the existence of the other hives. Maybe it could be done via the same shield strength buffs that the other levis have with relation to their queens. It would also make sense, as the uit space is most often considered quiet, for this to be a covert hive, maybe not so many missions, maybe it could have missions involving the following of collectors to queens, this mechanic is known to all but no game content really shows it till the late game mission trees. Or maybe it unlocks via a mission tree exploring hive activity locally. Maybe instead of small medium large, and just bot size differences, it could be a staged assault of a wild queen, following the stages of scouting collectors, maybe killing off an escort and having bomber support a bit like rogue queen, and finally just a simple "kill a queen" with the objective to kill a queen type bot, but leaving the rest to the player. The levi mission could involve following an observer bot after a queen kill, to find a hidden levi sector.

Also, i was thinking, this whole covert levi thing could open up a storyline within the verse that could add substance behind the arrival of new capships, a new bigger badder levi to kill for the parts required to build a capella, for example.

Another thought that could tie in the appearance of the secret levi could be quite simple. Taking out all three levis within the same regenerative period would be a huge undertaking, so why not haave the secret levi only appear when all three other levis have been killed. Adding this layer of work would mean even if the new levi had exactly the same stats as the current ones, the difficulty of getting it to spawn would place it a tier above. And this wonderfully mammoth scaled space hulk about to be released, the capella, deserves another layer of gameplay to make it a real achievement, imagine a yellow levi samo from this dude going for 50 mill in game, or a capella engine at 500mill.... that'd be a new layer of player economies as well.

Or maybe... Throw the mechanics for the levi we have out the window for the new levi. Have it related to the wild queens instead of the critical queens... All the otherwise benign systems in space hold a single wild queen you can scout for, maybe the covert levi's shield dependencies could be linked to these instead, maybe just the ones in uit for the sake of actually being achievable to kill all the local wild queens.

So... Any ideas are good ideas eh? Hehe

But dont local hive queens spawn near-instantly when the last onengoes boom?

Ive always thought UIT was busier than the other systems, myself, for reasons including it being kinda the universe center, neutrality, manufacturing in nyrius, and that it has more pilots in the active player charts than the other two nations (not combined, though, dunno if we are that much bigger yet). UIT space is a bunch smaller, however, so a dynamic hive cant spread out without affecting the mechanics allready in place for each of our systems. Limiting the dynamic hive to a single moving sector could work, though - but how would we find it? Perhaps if we dont kill the observer bot of a regular queen, when the queen dies it heads off to the levi, but only if a queen has been killed in each of the other sectors?

As for using a new levi to introduce the new capship, sounds good to me.

"new levi" should be a kraken looking thing with several levi as tentacles, when it dies it spawns several levi, there are already several unused widgets from the levi drop tables that can be used for a unique manufacturing piece for the capella.

while a kraken sounds cool, it breaks from the previous hive bots being insect-like (Levi more centipede than snake).

A giant beetle with levi legs.

But the kraken is most commonly depicted as a giant crab.

No, the kraken is most commonly depicted as a giant octopus.

PLEASE MAKE A SPACE OCTOPUS!

Nyscersul the way you are explaining it sounds like the mission i am/was working on a while ago, a UIT hive but with a story line. that's all i can say here. anyway still interesting.
