new (s) port rocket

Dec 29, 2003 Nihm link

I was thinking, we have the sunflare, a large det. radius, a slower speed, and good damage...

Why not make the opposite? A faster rocket (80m/s?) with say 25m prox. radius that only does say 600 damage and u carry a few more to equal out the maximum damage of each. This would give some variety to all the rocket users out there

and perphaps maybe an equivilent to EV's Javelin rockets

Well i got bored on the way somewhere and made a model for ships, i like doing fighter ships cause they are generally easier to make and well, neat.

Then it struck me, we need a tiny slot!
Something along the lines of 2 tiny slots is about one s slot.

Then i made a different fighter model.

Then it struck me! We need ships that have no weapon slots but weapons actually stuck on the ship that can't be swaped out.

I'd like to see the flares cut down in ammo, a lot. For those who enjoy (s) port rocket spam though, give them some new set. Some sort of 60 ammo rocket launcher that fires rockets a little bit faster than a gauss, does a lot less damage than a flare, but has only a slightly smaller proximity radius and moves in a spiraling sidewinder motion like the yellowjackets.
That way, the sunflares could be made into an effective kill-weapon with about 6 ammo per launcher and a bit more damage with maybe a nominal energy drain and these new mini-rockets could be used as a staple energy weapon for S-port ships.

The last thing vendetta needs right now is MORE rockets.

Well, these rockets would come in until AFTER the sunflares are knowcked down a notch, the tachyons are given a higher repeat rate, the gravitons are given much more speed, the railgun is given a higher repeat rate and does a bit more damage, the gauss' speed is taken down by 5m/s, the flechette is given multiple projectiles per shot, a smaller arc, and more damage, and the phased blaster is given much better auto-aim.

(That last one was just thrown in there for fun.)

Actually. phased is good. You can fire forever with a f-c battery. But ion needs an energy reduction. You should be able to fire -two- ion blasters forever with a f-c battery.

I agree, the last thing Vendetta needs is more Rockets, (although the Jav. idea was pretty cool, imagine 300 small rockets on the tail of a hostile)
/me drools until there is a puddle in his lap

I think Vendetta needs more energy based weaponry, the current complement lack something between, bad analogy follows, a sidearm and a French 75. We need to get more Picket Weapons, say a Tri-Turret ion blaster (three Ion Blasters mounted to a turret) or the (ever popular) Flechette Cannon idea (you fire a Flechette Missile that breaks apart at proximity to a target throwing pieces of metal and sharpnel everywhere puncturing the hull and doing damage to a rather large area in a sphereical spread!)

"the railgun is given a higher repeat rate and does a bit more damage"

No, no no! Higher speed and damage, keep repeat rate the same. :P

I like Nihms idea and the idea of more rocket variety. I can never quite decide about the sunflair issue. Only a few people can even hit with them while I'm in the Atlas (mightiest of all ships!) but I do think fights might be more fun if flairs were changed a bit. Just because I can dodge them doesn't mean the fighting tatics are fun.

Roguelazer, you can shoot the phased forever and you'll have to to kill anyone with it. Phased blaster duels take hours! It can sort of be used as a shoot and turbo at the same time energy weapon but the low dammage and tight aiming circle makes even this not to usefull. At least with my limmited skill set.

Of course put a phased blaster on an Atlas and you have a killing machine, but that goes for about anything + Atlas ...

I like the idea of being able to link 2 s-port weapons in an L port.

"I like the idea of being able to link 2 s-port weapons in an L port."
-Wouldn't that sort of nerf the hornet in relation to the hog and wraith?
Feb 04, 2004 roguelazer link
Why? Hog and wraith would still have only 3, versus 4 for the Hornet. However, the rag would become a 7-flare monster ship.
Feb 04, 2004 Magus link
Options are worth a deal as well. But the hog would get 3 ports plus agility. And the wraith would get the choice of 4 s ports or one l-port, 2 s ports, just for a slight (almost negligible) drop in agility.

Well obviously, an L port would only have one ammo supply... ie, half ammo for each linked launcher :p
