Why cant we pilot the ship while pressing turbo?

Sep 25, 2017 Bosup link
So i think it would be a good idea to let us steer the ship while we turbo. That way dogfighting is going to be more realistic and fun.

Combat does not occur at turbo speeds. Try playing awhile longer.

-1. The game doesn't need to be made runnier.

High tech should allow ppl to steer the ship while boosting?
Those are spaceships.

Simple answer: The power used to turn the ship is redirected to provide greater thrust.

1. Before you can have steering during boost, you must first be able to steer worth a damn during normal flight.

2. You can't steer worth a damn during normal flight.

3. You'll never learn to, either.

I've always toyed with the idea. I would like it if it were only implemented to a small degree essentially drastically reducing spin torque whilst boosting this could give high drain ships an edge by giving them lower turn rate reduction values making them much better at closing in on a kiting greyhound.

This would also make the ships everyone bitches about that have next to no drain and infinite boost to lose much more speed kiting than a vult 4 but only for a short distance as all the 60 energy/second kill batteries in 30~40 second from a full charge not counting for energy required to take a running target down...

The idea is to proportionally and drastically reduce torque whilst boosting relative to ships combat role/price/faction but most importantly battery drain.

If its implemented properly It could look something like this.
while boosting;
<=50 drain can turn 0.5~1 ° /s
<=55 drain can turn 1~3 ° /s
<=60 drain can turn 4~7 ° /s

this wouldn't drastically alter turbo mechanic and would balance some shit out kiting would still be effective but if an all energy 60 drain ship gets to start the chase close enough it'll have a much better chance at getting the dude running away (as is it right now with everyone flying valks/greyhounds/svg's i figure this would force combat till an explosion more than anything).

I think spideys idea is great. Boosting with less turning speed. It sounds logical.

The current implementation is fine, but my decade old idea was to remove the frictional force encountered at turbo speeds (but keep the top speeds in place), greatly increase turbo energy consumption and add a turbo cool down, and limit all non-turbo acceleration vectors to those that converge on the sphere of all non-turbo velocities.

+1 bankrolling would be less of awful.

Bosup,your suggestion seems logical,bu again,as said here,battles dosent occur at turbo speeds beocuse they wont be as fun as now.Also making ships able to steer at 220 m/s would make them overpowerfull,or if ye wanna backstory reason,use your imagination ;)
Sep 26, 2017 Bosup link
The steering at 220/ms would be weak mate. I dont think it would make em overpowered bacause everyone will have it. Others games have it. It works fine.

I thought you could already do this?

Bosup, VO isnt other games

Not saying this doesnt appeal to me - but thats a weak [read: pitiful and shouldn't be mentioned] argument for adding it.
Sep 26, 2017 Whistler link
I have played VO using much faster ship speeds. It goes like this:

Nothing...
Is that a dot ahead?
SHIP! PEW PEW PEW!!!!
Woosh!
Is that a dot behind?
Nothing...

Repeat.

It's not so fun.

Just rapid press turbo while rapid pressing the area you are turning. This doesn't need to be implemented PvP is good as it is.

Allowing severely reduced turning rates seems reasonable.

Phaserlight's suggestion also sounds interesting.

Yes Whistler i agree, beocuse both ships are moving.... Let's say:220m/s, 440m/s in total, witch means if they pew at the distance of 0m(impossible of course), in just 1 sec they will be 440m from each other, taking the average fighting range,and the fact that different weapons require different distances and approach, that means in 1second ships would br like 900m from each other.
