lmao @ Whistler & his pragmatism
While uploading an avatar image would be great, I would be just as happy if I could pick pieces to compose my own picture.
That way we'll all have unique pictures, and noone will have a "Zathras is a ninny" picture :)
In-station email (maybe with attatchable credits?) is very VERY high on my wishlist, too.

Pick and mix is indeed preferable, but harder to implement.

Perhaps they can make it easier to do by making the background when you enter a station a guy walking around in a station instead of the station's exterior. Couldn't be too hard, could it?

Well... I thought it'd be bad to post a new reply one month after but then I saw the one year post jump so... what the heck.
No, no, and just.. no. For some reason I just hate imitations of yourself walking around stations. They are not you and you only have a limited choice of them. Plus, as said, It would put a nice and heavy load on the server. I have a 512k connection and I still get extreme lag sometimes as it is. Before even considering things like landing on planets, stations, owning planets, etc. The devs should finish what's coming soon(TM).
Otherwise the /new/ stuff that devs promise will just keep piling and it will get futile. Just my opinion but please no walking in stations.

Someone ought to replicate a station in SecondLife so we can redirect people over there when they're in need to see their feet. And their dongs. Big, Lua dongs.

The Player could walk through each maze-like floor of the station, gaining creds by gobbling up 'dots'. When all the 'dots' are gone, the player goes to the next floor. Four Mysterious Characters roam the maze (members of BLAK), trying to catch The Player. If one of The Mysterious BLAK catches The Player, he dies, and he's booted from the station.
Near each corner of the floor are flashing pellets of Xith, which provide The Player a temporary ability to banish The Mysterious BLAK back to their Hidden Refuge (in the center of the maze), from which they will once again reappear to terrorize the station.
In addition to the dots and Xith, Law Neuts (which for some reason display as fruit) will randomly appear on each floor.

this is, and no offense, a bad idea. other games do thsi (Voyage Century Online has THREE of these things, sea, scene, walking) and its crap when they do it. very annoying. its cool but it just weighs down the game unneccessarily

Honestly, if I had the time, I would be willing to bet I could find more than 100 threads where the EXACT same thing has been suggested and the devs have said no. Not only is it not happening, it's STUPID. Let me see if I've got what your asking correctly:
"Hey devs, I know you've spent the last 10 years of your life making this awesome space-game with almost entirely static/rigid avatars, but instead of concentrating on that and making the point of the game cooler, why don't you waste more of your time creating an entirely NEW engine for what would pretty much be a fancy loading screen. We don't need content, we don't need improvements to the actual GAME, god forbid! What we need is a WHOLE OTHER ENGINE, just so we can waste time walking around stations, when the entire point of the game, everything youguys have worked so hard on, is outside the stations. Oh, and while you're at it, would you mind just letting us land on planets and create new systems, hire 100 more developers, redo the artwork and make the game free? I think it's a good suggestion!"
Sorry for the genka-esque rant, but I have seen 99 too many of these posts and it's really getting old.
