Newsticker is a plugin that creates a marqueeing-like bar at the bottom of the Commerce Welcome menu, which [I hope] would promote people to see and use the comm tab news more. I'd like this added to the base game to further increase its visibility.

It may be a little annoying that pilots new and old are mostly ignoring the news postings for events.

The news there is actually not visible except on the login screen [which also needs to change]; the news ticker plugin pulls from the comm tab, which is a different source.

I'm not sure I want to blend real-world news with in-game news, and I think this Suggestion is intended to be just about in-game news.

I agree that having the real-world news (from initial login) available elsewhere would be a good idea as well, but that would be independent of a ticker.

The comm tab never has patch notes or dev news, it's only in-context and in-game updates. So, it wouldn't be anything about development, everything has to be written canonically for the setting.

We haven't manually updated it in a long time (just automated entries), and adding Events there would be a good idea.

Adding a ticker would definitely be a good way of raising the profile of news posted there.

I update the news whenever somebody posts to the "Post items for the station news here MkII" thread in the RP forum.
