Guild Built stations

I know that this has been discussed, but nevertheless I beleve it would give more room for growth to build stations for guilds. This means more grinding manufacturing ect and so on. Unlike the previous suggestion I think a stationary position should be made. Even the position of the station in the sector should be allowed to shroud the station from others that may stumble upon it. I would propose any sector of grey be allowed to have this station aside from wormholes and other stations (not guild stations). Once placed they cannot be moved unless destroyed. Insurance should be allowed but be very costly since the station should be a point where the entire guild would fight to defend. I was thinking like 1t creds. Ofc the build is going to take the whole guild to build the parts and once the site has been selected the construction can begin. Other items to consider would be shields twice as powerful as any other but defeatable, station turrets that must be manufactured at the station, thus allowing them to be destroyed permanently so another must be manufactured, other guards such as the ai piloted vulture or other ship, all manufactured at the station. (All manufacturing at the station would be final construction only. All parts must be made at current stations. ) Thats the thought and I think it would be fun to complete!

They just released a new ore. Who knows, maybe that ore is used in the materials that make stations invulnerable to ship weapons.

If I may propose a variation to this concept, which is too similar for a different thread.

Rather than ‘stations’, in the traditional vo sense, could guilds build a less sophisticated construct, which might be called a ‘Stronghold’, ‘Lair’, ‘Base’, etc.

Such a construct would essentially be a hollowed out asteroid, as inspired by many sci-fi stories: mine asteroid. Seal the tunnels. Live inside.

Complex manu still required. ‘Roid might need to meet certain criteria on size, Location, Composition! Etc.
Biggest defence would be concealment. Maybe non-owners are simply locked out. Maybe they can be destroyed, or conquered. Maybe they just degrade over time.

Facilities would be minimal. No trade. Storage only and perhaps repair, reload at best. Limited ship storage, max # of ships to be determined. Unlikely to hold cap ships. Maybe you could dock and log. Maybe that’s risky.

One other thing: storage should be shared or ‘common’ storage. Anyone with access can take what’s stored there. This allows members to drop off items, for others to collect. Maybe opponents can break in (with much effort) and steal stuff. All this to create a good balance of utility and risk.

Digging tunnels in ‘roids and converting to habitation is a common sci-fi concept. Having it in vo would be pretty awesome.
