FF in groups

Feb 04, 2004 DR link
My suggestion is that people in groups become immune to other group members fire. This would allow for more RP and cross-nation guilds. Any thoughts?

I'm dieing to see this come true...it will make this more 'realistic' allowing you to have allied from other nations, fight with them, and not be afraid of killing them in the prosses...

possibly, if this were implemented you could put FF on globally as well so you could hit anyone not in your group... this would definitely encourage guilds/groups/RP.

It might also encourage you to group with someone, no matter what race, then unload on em with proximity weapons while they fly close to the people you wanna kill, so that the weapons would go off and only kill those around you.

With no other developments in place, all this would accomplish would be the end of the existing factions. Not to mention someone would find a way to exploit flag capping with this.

Alot of things have to happen before guilds can be implemented successfully. Patience, grasshopper.

i'd rather see FF implemented in the entire game, regardless of nations and groups, with penalties on kills of team and group members (the latter maybe less severely penalized than the former) and with a protection system (damage dealt and received increases gradually with score, cap is 10k or something) for new players.

the penalties could be like this: money deduction (percentage), weapons do reciprocal damage, weapons get "secured" for set amounts of time.

For now I would like to see FF from explosives and just leave energy weapons alone.

I like FF quite a bit. Penelties or some sort of regulation perhaps like toshiro mentions would be very important though.

I don't know if anyone here ever tried to play UT with FF on. It was never long before a griefer showed up with thier only purpouse being to shoot at teamates. I'd hate to see a NT griefer shooting NT noobs in 6.

As to the topic of this post, FF off in groups sounds like a pretty good idea too.

Good point Hoax. Maybe FF should be turned off in Home sectors.

Unfortunately, that be abused as well.

Person A (blue) kills Person B (blue) in s11
A goes back to home sector
B cant hurt him now

yes, that is why i did not propose for ff to be turned off in homesectors.
in spite of the danger of repeating myself, the regulations must be so that players who kill new players in the home sectors receive neither bounty, pk, nor score.
instead, have the killer receive penalties in health, money, score, k or pk count and weapon usage.
this could go hand-in-hand with a reputation system imo.
ff demining should still be off, though. people who have witnessed this in 3.2.x will agree with me, i hope.

Easy - have a once-changeable "switch", that lets you turn on FF on a per char basis. Gone FF (PK?) means not going back for that char, and with FF on, you can hit and be hit by other chars with FF on. You cant flee in some sector, but nor can you randomly attack newbies. Naturally, going into the home-sector of another race/dominion/guild should get you an automatic, albeit temporary, FF status.

Yes, this can be abused as well, but atleast in a more limited fashion.

Once the faction system is implemented, once you kill so many of your own teammates, you can be kicked outta your nation. and either A. join one of the other nations, or B. become hostile to everyone. I would chose option B. :)

sorry tosh, i was really just responding to magus :)

Really, I think we'll just have to wait to see what's implemented next... once factions are in everything will change as phoenix suggested.
