What we need now, are bug fixes, not more places for people to verbally abuse each other.

Phoenix: Agreed. We do need bug fixes. But what's wrong with a place to RP? If strict rules are implemented, this WILL NOT BE JUST ANOTHER CHAT ROOM. People will be forced to act like the chatroom is a real bar, and chat accordingly, and only do what they would do in real life. So if they want to abuse someone, they'd better have a pretty good reason. Plus, this clears up the global chat from people RPing on it, which is now THE ONLY PLACE TO! Also, if you had ever tried to play a text-based MMORPG, you would know that verbal abuse doesn't happen much if strict RP rules are followed, which is what I want to see in here. Please try out a game on topmudsites.com before you call chat rooms simply a place to verbally abuse.

The thing here is, why don't you want RP in this game? I believe along with others that it is TOO ONE-SIDED to play for an extended period of time. Other games (rebeldawn.com, for instance) have the RP feature, so why can't vendetta? What's wrong with that?

And then, after you've answered that, why is this idea wrong? As I've said above, people won't be able to verbally abuse eachother. Plus, its simple to implement - it's just a mouseover button and a chatroom.

Please answer, thanks,

I'm not really sure how you expect to enforce said "RP rules" inside these "bars"... The only way them having any chance at being RP only is that non-rpers wont go to them because it's "boring" so the RPers just won't have to worry about them.

I agree with Phoenix, though these instation chat rooms would nice in the near future.

It would be cool tough if you could 'see' the inside of a station... even a single picture for every station type would be cool. Then you can really see the difference between for example Itani (über clean, large, bright rooms) and Serco (dusty, crammed, dark rooms - maybe with some ale bottles on the floor.) heh

Well, as I said before, there already is a bar. It's in sector 7, and you can buy drinks and food there. And as for single sector bars/char rooms, what the heck do you think /sector is for, huh?

What's wrong with people who don't want to RP not RPing? To me it makes perfect sense that by enforcing strict RP laws, people who think its boring and don't want to be held by strict RP won't come in, and so no abuse will happen.

Yeah, I agree strict-RP isn't perfectly possible until we have more guides.

As for /sector, it's not at all what I'm talking about. I'm talking about a real bar atmosphere, only with ships docked at the station. A place to hang out and chat, have a drink. Its a place to go where you don't have to worry about your ship and can take a load off after racking your nerves dueling or making risky trade runs.

Also, sector 7 - okay, it has a bar. Moot point. Can you chat there? Why not have bars in all stations, at least the big ones like home sector, sector 6, etc?

From experience, its impossible to enforce strict RP in groups numbering more than 35 or so, and impossible in a group of any size if there is something to do other than RP.

The best you can hope for is that peer pressure will keep people RPing some of the time when they are in 'reality'.

Peer pressure: yeah, that is what I'm hoping for. The exact same thing that makes MUDs, especially of the MUSH variety so successful.

The thing about MUDs is that if you did't RP you couldn't really get anywhere in the world and would be generally shunned. I doubt if in Vendetta we'd be able to have the same affect since it's so much fun to just blow people up :P we'll see...

What we need is an über-greifer who relentlessly greifs all non-RPers with a score about 20k. It would be nice if he was such a good pilot that none could touch him. Even nicer if he never said a word other than: "OOC behaviour detected!" and nicest if he had the power to force people out of the station.
Feb 10, 2004 Oranus link
Yeah, that would be cool, Magus.

And DR, I understand that Vendetta would have more problems, but let the people who wanna just blow stuff up, blow stuff up, and let people who want to RP, RP.

Cant we just list people with BountyBot for being too OOC/Non-RP?
