(I know heavies have a harder time doing this, but) wouldn't it be easier to practice dodging?
I am imagining some ships (or players in ships) that would be insanely leathal with an anti-missile device

Just make missles hittable:D

aite. seekers may be a hassle for heavies, but the best weapons against heavies are still probably tachyons/rails, so even with an anti-missile device, heavies won't be gaining too much of an advantage

Ever tried dodging swarms in a rag? It's hard enough in a hornet. Something needs to be done.

Harvest, please kill Uncle Dave when he's flying a prom with a non-special, and with out any explosives. Then come tell us that it the prom needs more than just anti-explosives.

SL, the popcorn gun wouldn't be good at it, since it has such a large error in where it shoots and the targets are so small the explosive would make contact with your ship long before the popcorn gun ever hit it.

? sorry if I sounded as if I were asking for more than anti-explosives for heavies.
my first post implied: it's hard for heavies to dodge missiles/rockets, but if you gave uncledave an anti-missile device, he'd be more insanely leathal. so let the heavies dodge, instead of making certain players demonic.

second post: revision of opinion. Heavies do have a tough time dodging swarms, and need some sort of anti-missile device because of the kickback (an explosion that flips the heavy 180 degrees will leave it vulnerable, considering how much time it takes the heavy to right itself)
A prommie that carries an anti-missile device can still be killed, because energy shots are harder to dodge in a heavy. uncledave mentioned that effective weapons against prommies were tachyon, advanced gatling, rails... and seekers.
Fighting a prommie outside of its ramming range with rails seems very feasible, but I'll need to try it a few times before my opinion matters.

The other problem that hvies have is (more than 1) on 1. It's pretty easy to deal with this if you're ship is as fast as the fastest on the larger teams side and there is a bit of a skill gap and even if there isn't you can always run away. This isn't true with heavier ships; they're easily double/triple teamed and killed. Also if the sacrifice was significant enough it would be balanced. I feel like if it took a small weapons port but could only be put on ships with a large weapon port that would work out pretty well. It wouldn't be overly powerful, but it would give hvies an edge they currently are in desperate need of.
