Another turret suggestion

I prowled through the old post and didn't see on like this, but that probably just means I missed it...

My brother and I both play vendetta, and, since we're roomates, our computers sit side by side.

We've been flying as a team, and between the two of us, we think this might work out as a good idea...

What we'd like to see, is a two-man ship. One person pilot's, and the other operates the weapons systems... I THINK that this would actually be easy to do, on a relative scale, as 90% of the code required already exists.

as a concept>>

player one buys a Thor Battlebird for 60-70K, and then equips it with engines and weapons. while in station, player two joins player one with a console command like `/crew "player one"'

player one has complete control over leaving the station, and then is responsible for piloting the ship (with maybe one small weapon port under his control) and player two operates the weapons turret, aiming independantly of the pilot.

In concept, I see 2-4 small wepons ports on the turret, no ability to mount missles of any kind, and an independant battery for the turret.

this ship would not have a high agility, but it would be well armored. max (non turbo) speed for the ship with a heavy engine would be around 50-55, and both batteries would have to be fully charged to warp.

I'm sure that somebody has already suggested it in the past, but this is something that we would love to see.

operating this ship as a team would probably be rather dificult at first, and would definately require a good amount of team work. This would NOT be a ship for everyone.

Having done programming on My own, I know that this isn't the easiest thing to ask for, and I know there's probably challenges associated with it that I have no concept of.

I still think it's a worthy idea.

Comments from others (especially dev's) greatly apreciated...

That talks about that a bit in the second paragraph, let's just hope they won't forget.

How goes the process of making a turret follow the ship it's attached to?

(a side benefit of such code being the development of limpet ships, which hook onto the closest ship and then act like turrets.
