I think its a great idea... as the cargo menu is really limited right now...

i cant transfer just 1 widget from my holds to my ship?

i think you should be able to trade anything you own with anyone in the game... i might give a friend a cool ship.. i think i'd charge him for it. i will not give anyone i dont know (noobs) a ship...

i think i should be able to buy a valk from itani and sell it to a serco base for double the money?

also GROUP TRADE missions are nessicary.

and i think you should be able to create trade missions... in Ciuciu's example... "Let say that i want some iteni electronics in s9 to have a little less to run for it to other sectors, so i suggest some noobs that i give them 200k (10k now rest after) if they manage to bring 200 itani electornics to s9" ... instead of having to deal with the noobs... create a mission out of it... this way anyone could take it on... the mission bot charges me based on economy prices of the item and the distance of travel then a noob can grab the mission, work like a gerbil, and get some EXP and Credits... ? but on the flip side of that example, it would be cool to haggle with a person about it. so you could still do both...

anyway ... GOOD IDEAS IN THIS THREAD....!!!!

A problem with characters giving items to other characters is that an experienced character can give a newbie nice stuff and then that newbie would have an unfair advantage.
That newbie character may even be another character of the same user.

How about limiting it so you can only use the items (ships, weapons, equipment for ships) that are availible to you via license level?...? This way we can still buy and sell things on a black market...

I think a black market would encourage people to play together...

How about a User To User Interface Menu?
It could work like /charinfo or /buddy...

ME:
/command <remote user>

YOU:
MorbidlyWrong has invited you to a user to user session.
/command morbidlywrong accept

then a screen pops up in a similar fasion to the /charinfo with that 3 pane window... what i have, contents of the deal, and what you have...

you can trade anything you have in your ship... money or cargo... in the same sector (which we can already do so we can roll this idea into a new function).

Then in the stations we could have that same menu as a tab, and trade anything that you have in a station holds with someone in the same station, ships, weapons, equipment, cargo, money. But you can not leave the station in a ship that is not on your license level or in a ship with equipment that is not on your license level. You could make that random also depending on faction and location... Nation controlled stations will be real strict about which ship/config you leave the station with, where some smaller faction owned stations will let you depart in what ever ship/config you want if your standing is HIGH enough (meaning you are not a noob, cause you have to play alot to get a HIGH standing).

This way a new person would still have to earn the right to fly/use ship/equipment. But as a new feature to the game we could ALL use a black market.

We've discussed this feature many years ago but never came up with a really good interface to handle it the way we wanted it handled. It's been a pretty big disagreement between the us.

No worries, thats why we have a suggestion board to bounce around ideas as a collective, gamers and developers.

Its my humble opinion that adding a black market/person to person trade menu would be an excellent addition to the game.

Putting together features that we can already do ingame but has no convience with some new ideas to make a robust solution.

It could look a bit like the 'diplomacy' in Freeciv: http://www.freeciv.org/screenshots/1.14.1-gtk-2.0/diplodlg.png

Both have to agree, and if one of the players changes something; the other automatically disagrees until he click the 'agree' button again.

Group mining missions are a nightmare to 'settle up' afterwards, involving idiotic station ballet and cargo jettison roulette. This has got to stop, even if the solution is 'not perfect'. Here is my idea, which aims mainly for simplicity of implementation and use:

1. You can only give cargo that is loaded in your current ship.
2. You can only give to other people in the same station as you.
3. /givecargo playername numberofcrates
4. computer message to sender: 'playername received x number of crates'
5. computer message to receiver: 'playername gave you x number of crates'

6. problems:

-Which crates are given?
The crates loaded in your current ship.

-What if you have more than one type of crate in your ship?
Then it will randomly guess which type you meant.

-What if their ship only holds 8 cargo and your ship holds 40?
It gives it directly to their inventory, not to their ship

-What if you try to give negative crates?
Put an 'if <0' in there somewhere

-What if you give them so many crates it breaks the limit?
Put an 'if >cratelimit' in there somewhere. Print a message
about how the station space is limited.
