I really like that idea. Could those personal bios be available / editable on the Vendetta web site too, alongside the player stats? Maybe a player journal too?

Plenty of obscenity in the general chat anyway; I can't imagine there's anyone left who's sensitive to it. ;-)

Obscenity in general is handled by the chat filter if one is sensitive to it (verbally abusing a player is never permitted however). Perhaps the bios could go through a quick word search.

That would be a neat idea but obscenities would be very hard to filter effectively. There are, unfortunately, always ways around the filter.
Perhaps in the future you could submit some text for approval and it would be skimmed by a human or some other lengthy automated process. We would need to hire people to do that and we don't have the resources to implement something like that at this time.

bah, just put in a few lines of player written text. It's not like the chat sindow where everyone is forced to see it. Even if you were to write something totally obscene in it, no one would be forced to look at it.

What about volunteers? I wouldn't mind reading through a few bios a week or whatever... Hell, I could probably do a few a day if they're short...

it can always be implemented as :

accept at once, then simply "tag" bad content.

Tagged content is only visible by moderator staff, who then gets a lessend burden. Theese can be a group of volounteers (30:60 votes yes/no ) or other.

A person who's presentation was tagged and found "bad" cannot upload any presentation in another 6 weeks.

"click here if you find this pilot bio offencive"

Yes I think a spot to report vulgar bios and then have those bios forwarded to volunteers or paid staff for review would be sufficiant.

If you do want volunteers I would love to help out.

And of course also a system against people reporting bios as "vulgar" when those bios are in fact very clean.

I think a voting system would be better. If a certain percentage of the people who saw the charinfo click that it's offensive it gets blocked out and the user is told to change it to make it visible again.

well that could be abused too.
if the bios were limited to a few lines it would take a real person only 20 seconds to read and decide if it needs changing. If somebody reported it as being vulgar and its not then the it obviously would not need changing.

I think I would do a good job at checking bios for stuff like that.
