Well this is concerning the Leveling system.

Well basically when I want to boost my trade lvl, I have to either go in and out of the station about 10 times to get a mission that collects scrap or I have to accept one of the go accross the universe missions. Basically I am suggesting that all the missions to be listed. Not just 2 but all the combat ( I hope there will be multiple kinds like kill Frigate Ect.) all the trader missions so when we want to pick we just pick the one we want. And I know this would make trading easier but instead of making it easier, with every time you do a mission that says something like we are low on scrap, it increase by like 1 or 2. so it would get ALOT longer or something like that.

I like this idea.

I too am frustrated with the way the missions are designed.

I think that missions should be listed out in entirity ex:

Combat: Kill 5 bots
Cargo: Collect Scrap
Cargo: Shipment to g2/s12 (Galaxy 2, sector 12)
Cargo: Shipment to g3/s1
Cargo: Shipment to s23 (implies in current galaxy)
Cargo: Rush delivery to g2/s12
License Test

This allows pilots to avoid the having to exit and refresh station multiple times.

I also like the idea of accepting multiple missions at once. For example, the pilot could accept both missions to g2/s12 if he had the cargo room, or he could accept any two cargo missions.

I think that accepting a Cargo Mission and a Combat mission should be prevented by saying the Corporation fears for it's cargo aboard a combative craft and pulls the shipment

Is it just me or does everyone always get missions that send you to the home sectors? I'm getting really annoyed by it because I already have good enough standing with NT and Itani and I would like to run circular trade routes between the other sectors, but I almost never ever get missions to go there.

I've noticed that as well, that's one reason I've moved off the game for the time being.

The problem is that about 80% of the time the cargo missions send you to the home sectors and only the other 20% send you to some of the central systems (9, 5, 11, 7) although I've never seen missions to s13, s10, or (obviously) s8.

I think that it is a side effect of the way cargo missions are generated.

When your trade experience is low, missions normally are one jump cargo trips. This tends to send you in small back and forth jumps between adjacent sectors, but you do gradually start wobbling around the little universe we have. As you level up, the missions start becoming more and more two jump trips and the wobbling tends to turn into small circles. But as you continue to level up and the distance of your missions gets longer and longer in the small little universe we have the majority of the time the furthest (valid?) sector from where you are is your home sector.

That might not be so bad, but I suspect that the mission system is designed not to produce missions directly between the terrority of one nation and another right now. In other words, not many missions directly from 4 to 6 or 3 to 1. It would be nice however if the mission system checked your status with other factions and made inter-faction trade runs possible if your reputation warranted it.

It will probably be less of a problem with 7800 sectors and a universe 'diameter' of between 20 and 50 'jumps' (depending on how they arrange things).

I have to dissagree with some of it...
i had some trade missions to s13.

dont expect to have trade missions to s10 though!
it's supossed to be a secret station! and it is.
if you will look at the radar you will see no S mark where the s10 station is supossed to be. it can only request deliveries to be made, others should'nt ask to send it cargo...mabye it can ask for cargo delivered to it. it's like the fact that you dont see any trade missions to s14, 15, 17 or 18! the devs cant trust the fact that you know how to get to those stations.

now dont tell me that you wont chose those missions. what if the computer generates them while in the long range missions? will you abandon a mission just because of that? ppl will stop trading if they see that. very bad for trading, very bad!

Cele, the destination of the trade route is based on its difficulty not on the distance. So at low levels you get sent to mostly home sectors and some central sectors. Then as you get higher they lean more towards the central sectors. At a certain point (lvl 7 or 9 I think) you start getting hidden sectors. The game will never send a newb to say 18 (or 10 for that matter).

Eldrad: I can only speak to my own experience here, obviously, but while I'm only like level 4 trade I've never seen a particular preference for my own home station. In fact, about level 3, the 'path' of trading missions I ended up on wandered back and forth across the central sector 4-7-9-11-6-3 etc. I spent very little time at my home station and because (I think) of the gap at sector 10, once I got on the other side of 9, it might have taken quite a while to send me back to the 1-4 region.

More "generic" missions (like trade missions) are intended to have a lot of randomly-chosen components. However, I agree, they need to be broken down and displayed a bit more informatively for the user. I envision this in the form of a wider selection of more specific random mission types. For instance, "long range trade mission", "short range trade mission", "high risk trade mission", etc. The current method is not entirely desirable, but we're still feeling out the whole process of designing and implementing missions.

Randomly generated missions are intended to also have a very large pool of possible mission components in the long run. It might be feasable to display "all" of the missions right now, but that isn't something you'd want when there are thousands of different combinations. "Random" missions also have important server-side functions, as they can be prioritized and distributed in such a way that the universe is more efficiently utilized (so hundreds of people aren't all clumped together in the same sector).

I had missions to all hidden sectors (s18 hehe.. s17, s15, s10, s14.. any more? Donno)

The easiest way to get mission to s10 is to go to s15 i have about 10% prapobility of getting one jump mission to s10 :)
