Ship speed

Well, i played now some days and testing some different ships.

At the start i thing, ok it's the starter ship, they not realy fast, but let's hope when the Level are higher they will be faster, so i don't feel like a old men in a slow car, and can evade other ships at asteriod field.

This day i have used many ships, but all ships are to slow, there is no fun into flying. And thers not realy diference into the ship classes.

So i think we need a change into the max speed of the hole ships, so we can realy fligh like space pilotes, and not feel like bus driver.

Suggestion:
-----------
Light Fighter: Need to be fastes ships, low weapons, low hull, but you can evade the not so fast ships.
Max Speed: 200
Afterburner: 350
Cargo: 2 - 3

Heavy Fighter: A strong fighter ship with heavy weapons and hull, (1/3 so fast as a light fighter).
Max Speed: 170
Afterburner: 310
Cargo: 4 - 6

Heavy Bomber: Medium Hull, Large Weapon only, and the slowest of the fighter class ship, (1/3 so fast as a Heavy Fighter).
Max Speed: 140
Afterburner: 250
Cargo: 6 - 8

Transporter: Medium Hull, Light Weapon only, and same speed as a Heavy Bomber.
Max Speed:140
Afterburner: 250
Cargo: 10 - 20 (if more cargo, the ship need to be slower.)

Nex Point, "Reverse Speed":
The main jet are at the end of the ship, so you have the max power of your engines when you fly forward. But you have only smaler jet's at the front and side of the ship, to fly reverse or straf, so the speed need to reduce to half so fast as max speed. This time you can fly same speed forward and backward.

The last point are, "Afterburner":
Well, don't know why you make it, if you fly with afterburner you can not fly in any direction. But hope you will change it, so we can free fly fastest with afterburner to evade ships at asteroid fields, and space objects.

Well, that's it for now, thx to the dev team for this game, let's make it the best in this class.

Faster speeds mean less enjoyment. If you think it's hard to hit something with weapons now, just wait until there's a relative 700m/s speed. I mean, a1k0n can bring his 800m/s UFO ingame I'm sure. You'll see just how pointless it is to increase speeds by big amounts. I think what we have is very nice.

What raogue said. Seriously, we've tried this before and it's not as interesting as you would guess. At the speeds you suggest, your target would go from miniscule dot to ship to miniscule dot inside of 2 seconds. No time for twitch-based combat there.

Anyway, the flight model is here to stay. You can't have a twitch-based MMORPG without it.

Hoo boy, this argument.

Having played both, I can honestly say I prefer Vendetta. It feels more like old-school Wing Commander to me.

The INTERESTING thing, to me at least, is that the scale of the combat is far more similar to WC or FreeSpace than the speeds suggest. Intercept times are about the same, as are ship movements relative to each other and weapons velocities relative to the ships. The numbers are deceptive; this is MMOG Wing Commander.

Well, thanks for the answer from forum moderator.

But with this speed we have now it's no fun. Im playing many other games, Wingcomander, FreeSpace II, Starlancer and other, and i love the feeling to fly fast, so you can evade and escape at asteroidfields when you a good pilote. But here, if i fly at the asteroid fields i can make 1000 thinks and don't crash into one.

Thanks for the dev team and the other that make the game great, but nothing for me. Wish you all the best for the Future.
