Higher LW Licenses

Is there a point to having them? I just got my level 7, and nothing new showed up. I play with a Centurion III, so I can only mount one weapon. Since the Tachyon II gives light weapon experience, naturally my experience in that area has skyrocketed (going from level 6 to 7 was surprisingly easy) while the others have been left in the dust. Maybe there should be higher level light weapons like advanced railguns that take less energy, or something. Obviously you can't make the weapons too powerful because then they'd become heavy weapons, but reducing energy expenditure or increasing firing rate could be something to look forward to.

Good point, CrippledPidgeon. Why do we get such a plethora of weapons around level 2-3-4 (e.g: for the NT flechette mkI *and* flechette mkII both become available at LW 5), and then nothing for higher license levels later on? I would highly suggest spreading out the available weapons over higher license levels.

phaser, we had the weapons higher up, everyone complained because you had to be level 11 light to get gauss. My guess is that the devs want the majority of the weapons to be availible around level 5-6, about 2 to 3 days of steady playing. They can then impose limits as to what weapons you can get via the mission and reputation systems.

Well, here's the thing: as much as they complain about it a lot of people actually like the level grind. It's what keeps them addicted. I can understand the rationale behind getting all the weapons you need after 2-3 days of playing, but for those who enjoy leveling up there ought to be some kind of reward for reaching those higher license levels. Weapons that are not necessarily a lot better, but that have a wider variety. You could have:

charged cannon mk II
rail gun mk II
graviton blaster mk II
phased blaster mk III
Moonflare launcher (better than star, worse than sun)
basic gatling cannon mk II
adv. gatling turret mk II

Personally (although this is just a matter of opinion) with the new update I felt like tachyons, gauss, and gravitons all became available far too early. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought ion cannons and phased blasters etc. were supposed to be the more "conventional" weapons whereas tachs gravs and gauss were all hi-tech "experimental" energy weapons. As it stands there's really no reason to be using phased or ions after you reach level 3 LW.

no you are correct, what you are missing is the mission system. If you have to complete mission trees to be given access to some of the weapons, that adds another form of addiction to keep people interested, without requiring the extended botting that discourages players who are looking for a specific task to complete.

Perhaps the levels of the weapons could be reset higher, and completing mission trees could give you access to the same items at a reduced level.

Anyhow, the game elements are not all added yet, so lets see what the devs do before we start getting too creative about this.

I like the speed that the current weapons are introduced, but having some higher level weapons like a Phaserlight suggested (and I hinted) would be cool. Or maybe mission specific like Spellcast suggested. But in any rate, we run out of light weapons too quickly, I think.
