Flight mode indicator...

Oct 30, 2004 CIPOBO link
... is something i really miss.
I often switch from physics (or flight assistant mode disabled) to arcade (flight assistant mode enabled) and back. So happens i sometimes don't know wich mode is active. Unfortunately the only way to check is to switch. What can be very uncomfortable when in fight (or speedy docking manouver). A nice little informative sign or letter somewhere on the HUD could fix this.

Sounds like a good idea to me.

checking it in flight is easy as pushing your ' button.

I use physics mode exclusively, but had to remark that having to push the button to see what mode you're in doesn't make much sense, and an indicator would be nice for most people.

A nice little icon would be fine.

I would also like to have some type of visual indication. Even if it was only a toggle on|off green dot near the bottom of the tactical display.

Green would be assisted mode on. Greyed out would be physics mode.

I like Sobit's last suggestion there a lot.

I'd also like to see some kind of icon, or some way for the HUD to indicate which flight mode is active. I'd prefer something unobtrusive, like a little "light" in the corner. Just for fun, I might draw something to submit as an idea for you all to look at. I'm thinking of some kind of arrow indicator.

Something like this:

So, what do you think? Anyone? No? Yes? Crappy?

I think maybe if it were an unobtrusive green and red dot right above the speed indicator. That way it's right in the HUD so you don't have to look anywhere else on the screen except for the center.

Yeah, I like that. Good idea.
