Sound when getting hit?

Nov 10, 2004 diveshark link
One of the users of my forum had the following question:

Can u make a sound file so when your hull gets hit that a sound is made? Kinda like when you hit the other ship u get that beep sound. I find it hard to look at the hull of my ship when i am trying to dodge enemy fire.

Is that an option?

here's my step-by-step guide to that:

locate your amplifier.
find the volume knob.
turn it, in order to increase the volume.

locate your headset.
plug it into the right outlet. No, not that in the wall.
put it on.
Make sure there is no mute button pressed anywhere.

find a friend ingame, of your own nation, just to be safe.
(you like being safe, don't you?)
convince him to shoot at you.
Listen carefully.

.There. not too hard, is it?

classic..

I think the comment was about a custom sound. Like your own personal "boom" or "plink", etc.

I don't really see the point, since I plan on not getting hit often enough to care about the sound.

And diveshark, I know it's great being important as the head of your own forum, but it would probably be better if they communicated directly to the official forums. That way, they could actually respond to query without going back and forth through you.

No offense intended of course - it's great you relay their concerns, but do they know there is an official forum?

A sound like the one in Privateer, the old DOS space game, (after the shield is down and the armor being hit) would be my favourite.

thginkrej,

Thx for the constructive comment. I know, I try to avoid getting hit as well and don't see this as an issue. (Besides, I play the game muted and listen to music while playing ;-))

However, I have just a few users on my forum that are either just getting into the game or tried it out and may feel more comfortable to ask there than here. Reason may be the example reply from Spider. I know it was meant sarcastic but some of the new players might not want to deal with this.

And, I don't feel important in my function as heading a forum. I just want to help to support the game. That all started after the close of EnB. When ex-guildies and interested players that hadn't signed up for the Beta or the pre-order wanted to ask some questions. I have no intention at all to compete with the Message Board here! (There are only 39 registered members at my board anyways). And I am sure that the guys know about this official forum. I don't advertise my forum (other than that it is listed here under Community Sites, right under the Message Board link).

Anyways, that got off-topic. FM, sorry for that.
