Bosses?

Nov 11, 2004 Anevitt link
Hey, I know you guys have the Hive Queen out, which is sorta like a Boss in Vendetta. Are you guys planning to have any other type of bosses in the game? (for ex: you Kill a certain amount of NPC's at a specific location and a special "boss" NPC spawns. A boss is usually much more difficult but gives nice rewards for killing it)

Hmm, wait for capital ships. Then you'll have more difficult targets.

Well there can be bosses even for less difficult bots. The difficulty of the boss will depend on the NPC's you would have to kill to get to him. Also, the reward would depend on the difficulty of the boss as well, so theres somthing for everyone :)

try your luck on an helman overseer.

or if you're high levels (combat 8), an EC-88 on an assassination mission.

Bossy enough for you?

Its just not the same as either getting a group together, going to a certain spot, and hammering the NPC's till a special boss that drops somthing good spawns :P

No, I know what he's suggesting. They're called NMs.

Sure, the generic answer is "wait for cap ships" but what cap ships should there be specifically? And player-available cap ships wouldn't serve as "bosses" as much enemies. What Anevitt wants is a rare NPC that drops rare items. The possibilities there are endless.

I would think that the transports and mining vessels would probably drop more valuable cargo than battleships, etc. Simply because cap ship weapons tend to go up with the ship when it's destroyed.

It would be nice to have NPC "aces" that have the very best A.I. and become well known for terrorizing people until someone kills them. That could be another competition between the nations. Bot-of-the-day is terrorizing UIT traders in such-and-such system. Whoever destroys the most bot aces wins the competition. Maybe have a few of these bots roaming the gray space.

WHAT ANEVITT WANTS is to bring something into this game that was in Earth and Beyond. (Yeah yeah shut up people, we're not trying to make this game EnB.) All he was suggesting was that after OH say 100 bots killed, there is a special "boss" npc that is pretty much an upgraded version of the bots you were fighting. Let's say you were fighting Oruns. Then this boss would probably have double the fire power of one and three times the amount of hitpoints. Nothin you can't take down with a little bit of time. After you killed him he'd drop alot of rare ores, maybe some guns, higher level stuff than you have at your disposal according to your license levels. (unless of course your a high level person just killin Oruns for the heck of it)

That's all he was sayin. I personally think it would be a great idea since it would encourage more group combat. Plus it would make things a little more rewarding after botting for hours at a time. :)

Actually i like, i really like, what thginkrej suggested. I second it, but I feel I must add that I also liked *ghasp* Diablo 2's system of doing this kind of thing, where there were random champion/hero spawns in a place.

Just a bit of comparison, I know this game isn't Diablo 2 or anything like it, but that system of, i suppose "mini-bosses," was very addictive and rewarding.

As for special things--weapons, etc. dropped, I'm not so sure about that. Maybe only once in a blue moon, for some kind of upgraded-class hive queen, but nothing beyond that. Instead of items, I think these "bosses" should give extra xp, like extra heavy wep/combat pilot bonus; that'd be enough to get me out hunting.
