Ship and Equipment Prices

Nov 17, 2004 Durgia link
Now that licenses are free there is litterally nothing to spend money on or make people want to trade or mine (unless they enjoy that of course)

I think that it is farely easy to make money, and farely easy to loose money as well in high combat times. However my suggestion I think is still a good one even though it is possible for people to spend huge amounts of money losing ships. For one thing it may make them want to get better, or find cheaper more effective combos.

Now on to the suggestion...

Ships and to a lesser degree Equipment prices need to change. Right now ships are way way to cheap IMO. You can put together a workable combination for under 3k credits easily.

Equipment prices seem ok, most of the weapons cost more then any ship as it is so for the most part I think they could be left alone aside from miner tweeks here and there.

Ship prices need a total rework though. IMO this is how they should look:

Valk should cost around 50k different variants will cost different prices obviously, but around there somewhere.

Proms should be around 45k

Mauds should be 50k as well

Vult-I should be 24k vult-II 26k vult-III 28k vult-IV 30k

Hogs should be around 15k + 2-3k per variant

Centurion should be cheap aroun 5-10k depending on variants

I have not really used the larger ships much so am not certain what they would be worth but...

Rags possibly 25-35 k variant depending

Hornets 15-22k

Atlas 20-25k

Wraith 10-15k

Centaur -30k+

Now I am up to arguements about specific pricing etc but overall I still think ship prices need to go up, there is nothing to spend money on right now.

Yes, but proms should cost as much as the rest of the specials. If any special should be discounted, it should be a Maurauder.

PS: Nation specials should cost 3-6x as much for players who are not of the nation from which the special comes. If a Serco builds up +800 for Itani, he/she should pay ~150-200k for a Valk. And make prices dependant more on faction standing. So if the same person has +900 with Itani, they might only pay 120K.

Yes I agree that faction standing should have huge impacts on pricing, however my numbers were only starting figures.

To me the prom is not worth as much as the valk and maud atm. The maud will make 50k back in a few mins trading, the valk is by far the best fighter in the game. The prom just does not seem to measure up, though it is a good trader so I guess a 50k for it would not be all that bad.

I think all the ship prices should be dependent on the materials put into making them, the complexity of the ship, 2 weapon ports in a big ship will cost less than in a small ship, and also how advanced the technology is.

Leave the prices alone. Shoot some people and start some trouble and you will need those credits to replace your shops. What is it now 40k for a good setup?

Even in the most heated wars I only used 1 mil a day fighting, a few versions back anyhow,

I can make 1 mil trading in less then 45 mins (did it the other day)

I am sure if I really wanted I could find even better routes.

Trading needs to have a reason, 40k does not seem much for a working space craft with weapons and all. Most of that is probably weapons anyway.

I agree, ships should cost more. I should be bothered by the fact that I've left spare ships in stations halfway across the universe, but its more of a pain to go get them than to buy a new one. Buses should still be free or cheap though (the 88s free, others cheap)

If we're to boost prices like this, there better be ways to earn money other than trading/mining.

Real combat missions and bounties would help, but basically if we're to make money scarce, there better be ways to make it that don't force EVERYONE to mine/trade.
