I think it is a good idea, and well money is an issue for some people, even if it need not be. My only problem with it is there are other issues that need attention much more than this first.

Well actually, i think the only real(good) solution would be to reintruduce the license tests, with training missions/courses and real tests.
Like when u'r getting your drivers license...

Celebrim:

"I have to say that there is nothing that makes proving my point easier than when a person that chooses to disagree with me inadvertantly makes it for me."

Except he did not, as we will demonstrate in a moment.

>To quote:

>"Another great use for the simulator was PVP...You could play >against eachother and work on your PvP skills with no penalties. >Without the simulator, there was this great taboo/stigma >attached to PvP'ing. There was always a risk associated with it, >always some spite...and it was painfully rare...about one fight >a year."

"And you were saying about PvP not being principally confined to the simulator?

My fellow Vendetta supporters, I rest my case."

If you had read that paragraph more carefully, you might have noticed this sentence: "Without the simulator, there was this great taboo/stigma attached to PvP'ing." This sentence is based on the personal experience of a player who has been exposed to a game that actually incorporated simulated combat, and thus had the chance to directly observe its effects. It also directly contradicts the point you are trying to make, since it directly states that not having a comabt sim 'attached a stigma' to real PvP, and very strongly indirectly states that having said flight sim actually encouraged real PvP

I have observed you doing this a lot, Celebrim. I would like to suggest that you take the time to read others' posts more carefully in the future, and try to actually understand what the other person meant, instead of jumping to conclusions about what was being said that severely pervert the author's intended meaning, then replying to others on the basis of those conclusions.

I like Yoda's idea of tweaking the /duel command to allow non-destructive dueling.

[edit] likewise I agree with Soltis' comment below. Simulator would be nice but I think there are better content ideas that could and should have higher priority.

That is an alternative, yes, and probably simpler to impliment, but a full combat simulator would be a more robust, long term solution(so, not to be implimented till other more important things are taken care of).
