I am despondent, crushed and yes just out right pissed!

Nov 27, 2004 Thrangar link
I spend days to get my corp faction standing up.

I finally decide to take one of those we have more work you missions (there is no way to see what the mission contains) it ends up being in Serco space my standing is default -200 I cant land.

I default the mission and there goes 30, yes 30 of my Axia corp faction points.

Is this gambling or is this a space sim?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

30 points will take me days to get back....Going to have to take a step back and cool down before I do something rash.

Bad! very bad Idea Guild Software... give us the info and let us make decisions,if I wanted to gamble I would have have gone online gambling.

huh you can land with -200
Nov 27, 2004 Spellcast link
you can dock with -599 or higher.

30 reputation points is, umm 4 missions, 20 minutes work if you do it right.

The game will not give you a mission to somewhere you cant dock.

Two minutes work?

You must be insane, or there's some jump bug I don't know about.

Doing solid trade missions, with a Maud, with an FC battery, without stopping to do ANYTHING else, made it take about three minutes to do one of the SHORTER trade missions, and I was averaging between seven and ten minutes just to do one mission otherwise. Some of them took quite a bit longer.

I can time this next time I'm ingame, and give you an exact number... hell, I think I'll do that. This needs to be addressed, and having solid data would help, I think.

Could we please stick to the topic at hand?

Thranger, did you actually attempt to dock, or were you unaware that you would be able to dock at your destination?
Nov 27, 2004 Spellcast link
hmm, i missed a 0, that was supposed to be 20 minutes work. above post edited.

Dont call me insane or accuse me of using a bug soltis.
Nov 27, 2004 RattMann link
This is a serious issue. I don't know about his ability to dock in "hostile" territory.
In my experience however, if the game gives you a mission, you will be able to dock
at the other end. That being said, the "We have more work for you..." missions DO
need to be more specific, containing the destination and amount of cargo involved.
I have been stuck with the unpleasant choice of aborting the mission (and taking a
standing "hit") or the long, boring, two round trip option for not enough reward.
More mission info please.

Thankyou Rattman for getting the point.

Yes Moderator I was told (chat)that negative standing was a reason for loss of docking privlages.

Not from the station as it was in Serco space,a place I dont want to go to in the first place...this in its self backs my point.

You guys this has nothing to do with how fast you think you can do it ...I feel I should not have to and dont have any intentions as of now of doing it again.

Dont you get it! This is a bad Idea. If I dont tell them as a player how are they to know?

As it stands now I have no intention of remaining a customer.

However as I said I am pissed, and not in a good frame of mind.

I will sleep on it, if quitting is a good Idea ,it will still be a good Idea tommorrow
Nov 27, 2004 Spellcast link
if you are this upset over something that has a 30 minute fix, perhaps you should quit. I'm not trying to be mean or anything, but it is only a game, if it doesnt provide you with entertainment, then perhaps its not for you.

On another note it is a new game, with a small dev team, that listens to suggestions.

Skimming through the manual i note that it doesnt specifically tell you what reputation requirements are to dock, so there is one positive suggestion to come out of your post, that that information be included in the manual.

More information is needed on the followup missions, however this was not intended to be the way the multi-part missions were implimented. Unfortuately due to time and budget constraints, some things were a little rushed. A more intutitive mission system is planned (last i heard anyway) for as soon as the devs have time to get it running.

Your initial post comes off as something of a rant, which is in general a bad way to start a conversation.

In the meantime, have a good nights sleep, and I hope to see you in space tomorrow.

I'm still not clear. Did the station/server tell you you can't dock, or did a player say this to you?
Nov 28, 2004 yodaofborg link
Its very clear, a player gave him bad information,.. But as thats not the issue (and not being told more about a multi part mission, which was even worse when the scrap metal missions were in, is.) -

IE, We have more work for you if your interested (y/n), is not enough.

A good IE would be, We have more work for you if you are interested, we need someone to collect 1 x melon from Odia M-14 (y/n).

Not bad enough to put me off SpaceCrack™, but enough for me to say no to every single multi part mission. I hate trading, so i can only imagine how frustating this is for some.
Nov 28, 2004 jexkerome link
It is a case of someone jumping the gun due to bad info, unfortunately.

That said, I do trade and feel a little queasy to accept follow-up missions without knowing what the mission is about. Some of them have sent me very far from my usual haunts, making for long returns through sectors I don't know enough to do successful base-to-base trading, and a time or two I've hit ion storms swarming with enemy bots my ship hasn't been able to outrun and died as a consquence. No risk no fun, yes, but I like to have at least an idea of what I'm getting into.

"if you are this upset over something that has a 30 minute fix, perhaps you should quit. I'm not trying to be mean or anything, but it is only a game, if it doesnt provide you with entertainment, then perhaps its not for you." Spellcast

You seem fixated on the time issue, however your reply gives me a running board to answer more fully.

Its 30 minuts this time and 30 minuts next time and 30 minuts the next and the next.

You see I have no way of knowing what is in the next job.

As to whether they listen to suggestions...thats why I posted as for it being a rant...thats your opinion.

I see more than one good suggestion did you read the other guys posts? anyway if only one is noticeable then "my rant" was worth it.

If this as you say is the way the trading aspect of the game was ment to be intended, then you are right this game is not for me.

I feel srtrongly that a traders best defence is in his ability to plan his routs and actions..not in his guns.

I have decided to wait the duration of my original 30 day box limit and see how this particular aspect of the game evolves.

I will not stay any longer based on promises. I did that with eve, staying six months and never saw a fix.

Thankyou for your good wishes, but no I didnt sleep well. This is the last chance ,as I se it , for me to enjoy this type of mmorpg I see no others out there or any others on the horizon.

I was given bad info from a player and as Spellcast has proven the manual does not give good information on this aspect of the game.I did not even go into Seerco space.

I get my backside fired up enough just flying around in UIT space.UIT space !! I see more Serco than I do UIT and they are usually shooting me! Now I am in rant mode Spellcast (wink)

Now I know this game does not revolve around me,I am just putting this out there. They will do what they will.

So it sounds as if you very well could have docked and completed the mission had you known that you would have been permitted to do so with your current Serco standing. Not a bug so much as misinformation from a player compounded by a lack of factual information. So is the suggestion that better information regarding faction standing be provided?
Nov 28, 2004 Soltis link
More information, PERIOD.

Notification of number of goods to be transported.

Notification of destination to which to deliver goods.

Clarification of whether this is a fetch or a courier mission.

Some idea of the pay.

ALL in advance. Only a nutcase will sign up for work without knowing these things in advance, and currently this game is strongly encouraging us to be nutcases.

Also, to address what Spellcast said:

SOME of us do not have infinite time to put into this game. Trying to say, "well, it's just 30 minutes..." is totally inappropriate when it's 30 minutes of work, which could potentially generate another 30, and another 30... especially if you're asked to go somewhere that, while you can dock at, you know is not SAFE to go to - say somewhere Icarus is camping at the moment. ESPECIALLY if you're going missions 10 systems away from where your home base is, and dying insures failure due to the item expiring before you get back. This goes double when this "30 minutes of work" is boring and monotonous.

Who wants to put 30 minutes of their 2 hours they'll have to play this week into regaining faction standing they only lost as a result of not being given adequate information in the first place?
Nov 28, 2004 Thrangar link
I can not say it any better than what Soltis said!

Well spoken Soltis.

Nov 28, 2004 Spellcast link
well, i scincerely doubt that you are going to abort a mission for the same reason (dont think you can dock somewhere with -200 standing) again, so there shouldnt BE a next time. if you do, well, no comment.

At present you have also discovered that the follow up missions arent really worth the time and effort, so I dont think you'll be taking those again, once again, no next time.

anyway, the 30 minutes thing was more in response to your claim that it would take days for you to recover the faction standing, it was meant to be somewhat encouraging.

Incidentally, more info about the missions, and more missions in general fall under the heading of content, something the devs are working on as fast as they can. They know its needed.

If i in any way came across as rude to you thrangar, I apologize, its not been the best week at work for me and some of my frustration may have slipped over onto the boards here.
Nov 29, 2004 Thrangar link
No you did not seem rude and you never insulted me in any way. I hope your week starts getting better.

Its good to hear from someone in the know that more info for better game play is on the way.

As I said I do truely feel this my last chance to enjoy a game in this genera.
