Queen Mission

Suggestion Title : Hive Queen Extermination

Purpose : To provide additional group training and entertainment

Abstract : A multipart mission should be offered to kill a hive queen

Detailed Description : The grou would take the first part of the mission, which would be to scan for certain types of bots. Then, the group would be given the option to continue and take the next part, which would be to critically damage one of these bots and be within 1000m when it warps, thus getting its destination sector. The group would then be given the option to take the "Destroy a Hive Queen in Sector Blah" mission. If any of these stages were aborted, the aborted stage would become generally avalable. So if Group X in Itan takes the misison and completes Part 1, then aborts part 2, any other group in Itan will have the option to start the mission from Part 2 instead of Part 1, since the initial scan has been completed already.

Suggested Reward : [+3000/2000/2000] to all group members upon destruction of Hive Queen and entire escort. 20000cr reward. +20 faction per stage with whatever faction you took the mission from.

I'd suggest a higher reward (in cash) for it, as well as a few small rewards for the first stages.

in all, I like the idea.

I absolutely LOVE this idea ! Fun for all the family, finally an entertaining way to get a decent amount of Combat XP, more content in gameplay, one more good reason to play in teams, etc...

And maybe a medal for having killed a set number of Queens ? (100 ?)

I agree, their should be a group mission for killing the hive queen. But, why not just take the mission an then go find the hive queen. Have the mission be something like, "Find an Destory the hive queen." I wouldn't make it overly complex

But I do agree with your post, their should be a hive queen mission for groups an their should be a reward an XP split between the whole group when its done.

Simple missions get boring fast. It's the complicated ones that are more fun.

Would the extra "complexity" be worth having to script it so any bot damaged by a member of the party doing the quest would actually jump out, thus giving the location needed to jump to?

Edit: I DO like the idea of a hive queen killing mission; I personally really enjoy hunting hive queens.

I'd like a solo version of this, too, for really daring players...

I also think this should net you some faction standing; after all, you ARE removing a source of bots in the sector...

Edit2: Question: would this mission be available only from Serco/UIT/Itani bases, or would you also be able to get it from other factions? (Verasi, for example, is mostly controlled by Valent, so Valent has a real interest in such a mission - but only if executed in their system)

I dunno if +20 at EVERY stage is appropriate... maybe +5 every stage, and +20 or +30 for making the actual kill. Really depends on how long this mission is designed to be, etc...

Also, how would multiple queens be handled? I have taken on and defeated 2 queens at the same time - single handed - surely I'd get some special recognition for that.

Soltis, that's why I suggested a medal for a given number of queen kills ;)

Interesting suggestion - I must have missed that.

Great suggestion! I like this idea a lot, and we definitely need more group missions. In a separate (somewhat related) thread, I suggested that transports occasionally jump to the Hive Queen sector to deliver ore mined from asteroids:

So perhaps the group could find the hive queen by following one of the transports. I also like the idea of damaging a certain type of bot and having it flee to the hive queen sector. And also I like the progressive feel of this suggested mission. I've always thought it would be sorta neat to have a combat oriented mission where you have to take on progressively harder and harder bots until you finally end up fighting a huge boss like the hive queen, and this mission certainly seems to be along that vein.
