Training Weapons

Dec 02, 2004 johnhawl218 link
I've seen posts about people wanting to be able to train other poeple. It would be really cool if we could get a small and large slot weapon that did NO damage but had the average speed and graphics for a given weapon type. This would allow people to duel to train without having to actually attack each other. Sure this would not actually help you with license requirements but it would allow you to get more familiar with a type of weapon/ship combo without actually having to put yourself if a dangerous situation without some practice. Cost would probably be 1cr per small and 2cr for large as they have no real use other then for helping others with there combat skills and for having freindly competitions.

GOOD idea. Plus, now we can mount these on scout ships and go scare enemies.

:) who, in response, will blow you up :)

I had a hard enough time healing allies, 2 of em blew me up after they saw me fire

Good point, Shape..

***note to devs: make the repair gun look _VERY_ distinctive!!!

Why not make the repair gun look and operate like the mining lasers, except with a really short range? "Mining" a spacecraft would be pretty distinctive IMO.

Sorry for heading OT...

How about you just group up? You can't damage your group member if you hit them. I've done it plenty of times.

of course you can damage your group member. were you trying to damage a fellow nation member in nation space, with ff on?

Good Idea. kinda like concussion mines. all shock wave, no damage.
I want it for pretty pretty fireworks. *unloads some on Shapenaji*

I would love to play with a energy-rocket weapon of 400kg weight, does absolutely no damage, and shoots infinite shots, with energy drain (energy drain--prevents spamming, since, like a rail gun, you'd have to wait till you're charged to fire once more). would make you choose between the heavy battery and the fast charge... would you rather shoot more than one rocket with the heavy battery, increasing your spread, or would you rather use the fast charge, allowing you to shoot more often, a rocket here, a rocket there... believe it or not, a weapon like this could be rather unbalanced. (but oh so fun.)
That's how we used to train, when ff was on, right? not too much difference... you could tell you were hit, though you took no damage.
