N3 for UITs

UITs with good standing (800+ ?) should be able to get Neutron3 from the Nation currently offering it. It doesn't make sense that Sercos can get an IDF Valk, but UITs cannot get the N3.

seconded. maybe to do this we would need to force serco rep + itani rep to balance each other tho, so that UIT wouldnt ALWAYS have access to the N3

The UIT have the TPG Sparrow, which is their "version" of the N3. I've been working to get +600 with TPG so I could try it out.

What are the stats of the TPG Sparrow? But Spellcast has a point there, Serco and Itani standings have to balance each other for this to work.

TPG sparrow isn't... that great, I think its velocity was 162, just an upgraded phase blaster or something. Pretty efficient, but not as "good" as neutrons, nowhere close neut III

the sparrow is nothing like the n3, its not even in the same country, much less the same ballpark.

TGP Sparrow Phase Blaster
Damage: 420
Velocity: 162
Energy: 7.3/blast
Delay: 0.2s
Mass: 150
Volume: 1cu

Neutron 3
Damage: 600
Velocity: 215
Energy: 11/blast
Delay: 0.14s
Mass: 200
Volume: 1cu

im not sure the UIT should get the n3...the UIT already have a number of advantages and i'd like to see them remain different from the serco and itani. I do think we could do with some more new faction specific (and reward based) toys though...i wouldn't mind somthing like:

UIT xithricite armour mod S

S Port
+1000 armour
280Kg

UIT xithricite armour mod L

L port
+2500 armour
700Kg

with the basis for decision being having +700 standing with the UIT corp that has the most 'special UIT cargo missions' done for it (or something along those lines)

For comparison, the Orion XGX Phase Blaster:
Damage = 400
Velocity = 170
Energy per shot = 7.2
Delay = 0.2
Mass = 150 kg
Volume = 1 cu

And the Axia Accelerated Positron blaster:
Damage = 800
Velocity = 200
Energy per shot = 17
Delay = 0.21
Mass = 500 kg
Volume = 1 cu

The Orio XGX is nowhere near a Neutron mk3, and the Axia Posi comes much closer but is too heavy and consumes way too much energy.

Well this is definately a problem.... but I don't really know how to fix it. . . . . What about a N2.5? lol. WHAT?!??!??! IT could happen! They should get something that's not QUITE as good but up there. Something light and does more energy than a phase blaster. This way noone could say: "Well the UIT have their weapon ALL THE TIME!" and the UIT would be more happy since they get a weapon that's always better than one nations....? Then again some Serco and Itani have stockpiles of the Neut III in just about every station anyway..... :) but still I believe this would make it more fair for the UIT.

or a better TPG gun, but that doesn't make much sense.
Dec 12, 2004 Anevitt link
How about we let the devs add more and different types of equipment into the game? Eventually, as this game progresses, I believe the Neut3 will be an old outdated weapon that dosent really have any bearing on combat.

Id rather see just more weapons/devices/engines that get progressively better (and some that arnt sold in stations) rather than seeing the devs spend all their time trying to balance out the weapons that are starting to get really old anyway. Moving forward in that department seems the more logical solution for the UIT's (and really every nations for that matter) weapon dilemma.

I think I'm going to retire Hoax in favor of a red or blue char. For me it's the speed of the neut III's. It's just too much of a deciding factor in combat. I haven't had any fun with pvp as a UIT since neut III's became the weapon of choice. UIT may as well become a nation of missile spam.

As to positrons, I don't think they compare in any way. Too short of a burst from the high energy consumption, slower fire rate and slower velocity, over twice as heavy. That and you have to pump your axia up in the first place to get them. Um no...

I use N2's and Rails successfully against N3's...
Dec 13, 2004 Starfisher link
You're an ancient vet. You don't apply. Not everyone can play for two and a half years to accumulate the skills necessary to overcome the speed advantage of n3s.

And also I would point out that itani and serco DON'T only have them occasionally, everybody stockpiles, so UIT are the only ones who don't have them at any time.

Sure I can use gausses to great effect from a vult or Valk, but when your special is the territorial defender and the maud, they need something else.

Perhaps a large special wep? just for UIT's?

Sort of like a special Xith plasma dev, 250 energy to fire, but kinda like a spread pattern?

I also like Anevitt's point a lot, just keep the game evolving, with new tech gradually replacing old tech.

> Neutron mkIII is specific for CtC. (Itani versus Serco)

You know, UIT sometimes participate in CTC too...
Dec 13, 2004 johnhawl218 link
So what do pirates with velks or proms that are out there killing the UIT traders with NeutIII's have to do with CtC?
Dec 13, 2004 Imek link
That makes absolutely no sense. So they pick a side.. Scene missing.. Therefore, CTC is only for Serco/Itani? Why shouldn't a UIT who picks a side and gets good standing be able to buy the N3's?
Dec 13, 2004 myko link
maybe only those participating in CtC can actually get the weapons...so if a UIT helps and that side wins, they get to buy a single neut3. This would also sort out the stockpiling problem.
