Bigger ship bigger engine

probably been mention before,

but a ship like the wraith which is bigger then as a centurion needs bigger engine to move. hence they should go faster. one thing to remember is that we are in space. and the only thing we need to worry about is MASS. there is no wind resistance.

the bigger the ship, the bigger the engine

BUT the more it takes to get to that speed.

i mean if a ship like the wraith has three engines, and the warthog has 2 then what?

it should be like the wraith has a max speed of 75 but it takes an extra 30 sec to reach it from 65.

one other thing. why do the ships have a top speed in the first place.

yah yah i know there is a limit to the mass

but and the faster you go the more mass you have blah blah blah blah

well if a ship has a small mass, then it could have higher speeds then a bigger ship.

now why is there a limit to speed

to make it more realistic, why not have it fluctuate depending on your mass.

if you have a full load then make it almost impossible to hit 65 and if you are empty then make it go over 65, say make it go to 73 depending on were you are, and so on so forth

there is a limit to speed because at one time we had none and the game was BORING. combat was impossible, you never got close to anyone else.

The mass of an object always stays constant. It is the weight that fluctuated based on how fast an object accelerates. If a liter of water is going at a steady nine m/s it's mass is still 1kg, but it's weight is 0 whatevers. Now, if it starts accelerating at nine m/s it's weight becomes a steady equivelent-of-one-kilogram-only-weight.

PS:
I'm not too sure if the rate of acceleration at 1G is one m/s. Someone help me out here.

At 1G, the rate of acceleration is 9.8m/s/s.
