Event-controlled player-provided music and playlists

The ability for the music within Vendetta Online to change based on where you are and/or what is going on in your sector is relatively new. The only problem is, this ability does not transfer to the ogg files and m3u playlists the players choose to customize their playing experience with. I request a section in the config file (or even a new file altogether for this single purpose) that would allow players to set certain tracks and playlists to certain events.

Example Layout:

[Startup] //Played at game startup.
/oggs/v_theme.ogg
[Gray_battle]
/oggs/VOBattleMusic.m3u
[Gray_distant]
/oggs/LoveGrows.ogg
[Gray_home]
/oggs/VamaallaFlamenco.ogg
[Itani_battle]
/oggs/LiberiFatali.ogg
[Itani_distant]
/oggs/ThemeofLove.ogg
[Itani_home]
/oggs/FinalFantasy.ogg
[Itani_newbie]
/oggs/DearFriends.ogg
[Serco_battle]
/oggs/ManWiththeMachineGun.ogg
[Serco_distant]
/oggs/TinasTheme.ogg
[Serco_home]
/oggs/OneWingedAngel.ogg
[Serco_newbie]
/oggs/FireEmblem.ogg
[UIT_battle]
/oggs/DontBeAfraid.ogg
[UIT_distant]
/oggs/ToZanarkand.ogg
[UIT_home]
/oggs/MelodiesofLife.ogg
[UIT_newbie]
/oggs/AerithsTheme.ogg

With two exceptions, all of my chosen music came from the 2002 Final Fantasy Concert; just a bit of info for those who care.

What this section in the config file would do is tell the game that if [x] default music is supposed to be playing, play what is under that tab instead. Pretty simple to input, but I assume it would be a bit less so for the devs to code in.

Sorry for the bump, but what do you people think?

I don't see why not, most other games you can config your own music.

I rather like it, yes....

YES.
What would also be nice would be if you could play in-game music with the semantics of external music. (i.e. not resetting every warp)

Another idea is that you could make "mini-playlists" within these clusters by listing more than one ogg file.

Example:

[Gray_battle]
/oggs/PlanetCorneria.ogg
/oggs/ManWiththeMachineGun.ogg
/oggs/OneWingedAngel.ogg
/oggs/BootstrapsBootstraps.ogg
/oggs/PokemonMedley.ogg **
/oggs/LiberiFatali.ogg
/oggs/DontBeAfraid.ogg
/oggs/BarbossaIsHungry.ogg

This would essentially play oggs from the [Gray_Battle] list whenever I was in the same sector as a hostile NPC or a hive-bot. Each time I moved to a different sector, the next track would start when the current one finished, or it could just play the oggs sequentially like a m3u playlist.

**Honestly, I'll agree that the tv show sucked, but the original games and the orchestrated music from "Smashing Live!" were excellent. (this is where this piece came from; it's pretty good battle music)

I'd love to see this. Gustav Holst's "Mars" for my battle music...

^^; Forgot that one. I already have a "Planets.m3u" playlist already though, so it's not that big a deal.
