Edit front page Free Trial graphic

Jan 20, 2005 wylfing link
The "Free Trial" graphic on the front page should be edited. Drop the space ship, or station, or whatever it is, and the overall visual quality of the front page will improve. The station in the logo graphic is stylistically much better (the one in the Free Trial graphic doesn't have half the appeal). The Free Trial ship/station steals attention from the nice logo, clutters the page, and interrupts the visual flow.

I'd also suggest arranging the words "Free Trial" and the 3 OS images so that it's clearer that you need to click on as OS choice to sign up for your free trial. Perhaps even adding the words "Choose your operating system to begin your free trial."

That ship is the Frigate.

Oh I see that now ;-)

Well, it is not done justice on the Free Trial graphic. I distinctly remember deciding -not- to try VO because of that graphic. There are so many startup games with really awful graphics, and I immediately placed VO in that category.

(Alright, cue the "Too bad you changed your mind" post.)

Meh, I think the problem is more that the image compression makes it look like crap. Perhaps a high-quality progressive JPG?

I think the original post was referring to the Free Trial graphic on the front page ( http://www.vendetta-online.com/ ).

But you're right, the download page is rather bland. But I don't think it really needs anything else there. Less is more.

The screenshots are great, but they are not a first impression maker.
