Drop drain of IBG to 65s

Jan 28, 2005 softy2 link
I know I used to think 70s is fine for such a super dogfighter. But that was when I thought it was being too uber.

But since the new rebalances, I think 70s is now too high since in general many ships are being uberized (all ships were uberized recently, none-de-uberized). So let's drop the drain to 65s so that the IBG is more useful as a CTC fighter craft.

It's already useful. It doesn't need to be more useful. If it had a lower drain then what would make up for the fact that it's got the lowest mass and a high thrust? It's already too fast in my opinion and this won't help it.

The Orion Rev C. has a drain of 60. I think that either the Rev C has to go up to 65 or the IBG has to come down to 65.

How about orion becomes 62.5 and IBG becomes 67.5?

That'd be annoying. I don't even know if the engine supports fractional drain. It's faster to use ints instead of floats, after all.

Kixkizzle : If you are Itani, would you fly the Rev C or the IBG in CTC?

Depends if I want to hit and run or fight. That's not the point though. The ibg is the best light fighter in the game. The only thing that remotely holds it back from other ships is it's drain.

once again itani are asking to make their ship the best in game. :o)

IBG is already the best light ship in fight.

IBG > Orion Rev C > SVG

now look at their drain :

SVG = ORion Rev C (60 "drain")
IBG = 70 "drain"

If you drop the IBG "drain" to 65
you have to increase the "max speed" on SVG to 70 to compete with te IBG.
so Corvus vult will go to 70 "drain".

if you increase the orion rev c "drain" to 65.
There is less/no more reason to work the orion standing anymore. we will justgo work our itani standing to get IBG + Vakyries.

the devs have already increased the stats on the IBG in the last patchs. stop.
orion is supposed to have the best Centurion and Hornet. (their special ships)

I'm Itani. I never use the IBG. the reason is simple, with its drain, there isn't much use for it. the Rev C is close enough to the IBG for the drain to more than make up for any other minor tidbits.

and, with regards to working on Orion or Itani standings, well, that's just as much a roleplaying question as a tactical question. then again, I'm probably going to fix my Serco standings just to get the prom.

See corvus and biocom.
So if you want integers... 63 and 68 or 62 and 67.

Kixkizzle :

The "best" light fighter in the game is the Rev C. It is a multipurpose as you can get. I fly both, and the 60s drain in the Rev C more than compensate for its extra 200kg. Yes I traded for the Rev C to see how it was, and I know exactly what I want to fly when playing CTC.

In a 1 vs 1 between Rev C and IBG, of course the IBG is better. But this game is a MULTIPLAYER Team game, not a 1 vs 1 all the time.

And your point in "whether I want to hit and run or fight", I think we both know that CTC is all about hit and run.

Furthermore, let me add that the difference in weight between the Rev C and the IBG is so fractional, that I've never noticed a difference in a duel, when fighting them.

I don't feel disadvantaged in my Rev C. Though I agree with Ayn, that the SVG needs to have a higher maneuver speed.

Only in the beginning of the week. In the end it becomes "more" of a battle. Though alot more so if the transports weren't so damn fast. That's what makes it a hit and run.

I wonder if everyone has flown the SVG after their slight tweaking... now it has more thrust (5N) to somewhat make up for its 800kg extra weight against an IBG (or 600 to rev C). Of course it's not going to be as agile as the centurions, because of its 9000 (1800/2000 more than IBG/Rev C) hull. It is larger, but when facing straight at an target, it's a pretty hard target to hit.
It also has 0.5Nm more spin torque... and only 60 drain, as well as 240m/s top speed. Its cruise speed is 5m/s slower at 65... cargo space is only 2, so maybe that could be changed to 3 or 4.

I have a better idea :

Swap the stats for the IBG and Rev C.

Any takers? Kixkizzle?

TheKid: Well, it actually does fly pretty nice, but you can't fly it in the same way as a Rev C/IBG, they're a totally different beast. The Vulture wings create a different kind of mass distribution. It's longer (but where is the torque applied?).

I beat up an IBG with one... can't be too bad. Pilot was good too.
