Tung Maud (Yet Another Thread)

Why don't we give it the heavy ship workover? Give it a ton of thrust and another large port, but make it 8000 kg and still have its 60 hold, increase thrust and spin torque. Leave the armor low, as it's not for fighting, but make it work well as a miner, at least. We could even drop the speed to 170 (or whatever is a decent speed for outrunning bots). That would make it pretty useless for anything but mining and trading.

You want a ship with 2L, 1S, 60 hold, high mass, high thrust and high torque? Must I remind you people -again- that Maud != Prom?

if one removes the Spin Torque and keeps the armor in the 8K range, it won't be anything like a Prom. of course, the best solution is still to introduce equipment slots (small and large) so one can have some control over the usage of the ship. introducing mining ports is a very bad idea, since we later on might want to see cloaking devices, better radars, ECM-stuff and lots of other nifty stuff.

oh, and equipment can fit in weapon ports, weapons can't fit in equipment ports. a Tung Maud would maybe have 2 small weapon ports and three large equipment ports. one of the small weapon ports would be used for a scanner, the other for some sort of defence, and the three large equipment ports are mining beams all the way.

Ok, the only thing that really bugs me about the T.Maud is that the "Large Port" mining beam comes out of my engine at the top of my ship. ???? materializing from thin air ???? Can the beam appear to be coming from one of the three small weapons that are in the model??

It would be nice to see a second beam added to it but if not that's what the aggress is for.

Would love to see new slots introduced but that's far in the future, at least till cap ships come out??
