Mining Multiple Targets

It would be nice, in times where your in a dense roid field, to be able to select a different roid for each of your mining beams. Perhaps make this a special scanner, able to maintain multiple locks, or better yet, a more advanced mining beam that has it's own mining scanner build it, allowing each beam that you equipe to work independent of each other. I would expect these to be higher level mining beams, possible -/-/-/8/10 or higher and sold strictly at mining stations.

I know some might say that it's less efficient to mine with a single beam when you have multiple for heat reasons, but sometimes it's just about speed, like in a dangerous territory. Also, it could allows you to tap into cooler roids to offset your intake from your primary roid that is say 100K+ or even higher.

How would it work with current UI and triggers? Well, perhaps there is only three groups till/if the UI is upgraded. You can assign your sets of beams to your primary/secondary/and tertiary. All you would need to do would be to… 1)Select your first roid… initiate primary beams. 2) Select your second roid, while first is being mined by first… initiate secondary beams. 3) Select third roid, first two are still being mined… initiate tertiary beams… and tada, your mining multiple roids. I'm fairly confident this could work if some miner tweaks were made. Currently, you can deselect a roid your mining to scan objects around you already so there would just need to be some coding for allowing multiple roids to be able to be mined simultaniously.

This also adds a bit of skill to mining as you'd need to be aware of all your roids AND any potential pirates or other passerbys that may want to take a shot at you. Any thoughts, additions, revisions, loopholes, exploits, etc. ?

you can allready do this.

All you have to do is have your mining beams tied to different weapon groups, then you just change which asteroid you have targeted, switch weapon groups and fire again. The most i have been able to get in range of at one time is 3, using a rangarok in the densest part of an asteroid field in odia.

then completely disregard, I didn't know you COULD do that. Sweet, I'll have to try this tonight to see.

It's rare to find roids 200 or even 150 m apart. try throwing one beam up, then fly to the otherside, and turn the other one on. o.0

Think of the big cracked roids where you only have about 40m to fly though, those are two totally different chunks that are large and will warm slow, hit them both at the same time…
