My Suggestions

Overall I tihnk the ships should be more detailed, perhaps even have the weapons it is using visible on the exterior.

When moving around there should be small visible thrusters that go off (how does a ship with engine only on the back fly sideways?).

There are currently no really fast ships or really slow ships (I expect the captial ships to be very slow at moving but there needs to be some interceptor ships you can buy that are faster than 65/240)

Certain long range missiles (maybe ones not even added yet) should require you to 'lock on' to the target by keeping the target in your sights for a certain length of time. The target should also get a missile lock waring during this so they can try to fly away to prevent a lock on.

Anti-missile lasers - A beam turret that shoots nearby incomming missiles and rockets, could either be slow between shots and use minimal energy or be fast and use lots of energy (capital ships will need these).

The Big One - There need to be a few ultra powerful weapons, like nuclear mines/rockets that are slow and maybe limited to 1 per slot, but destroy anything nearby. These would be a good threat to capital ships and would require them to be shot before they hit.

Asteroids should be destructable (important for capital ships that would rather go through an asteroid field than around it).

The Rail gun should look less laser like and more rail gun like (think matrix bullet time effect :)

Jumping - Ships should have to have a quick jump charge where it briefly charges up its engines (visible) before shooting off (a bit like the worm holes do). Jumping should also require a variable amount of energy for the mass of the ship, 250 being the highest needed and you cannot jump if you don't have enough energy.

Naming ships - This should be made possible so that people can name thier ships whatever they want.

Guilds - They don't really have a purpose now, perhaps they should be made race specific and have a set goal to which all the members can work towards.

Pirates - a 4th pirate race should be added so that those wanting to become pirates can lose their UIT/Serco/Itani tage and become proper pirates. It also allows others to know who has become a pirate.

Stations - currently they all look very similar but really they should all look very different, especially the race specific ones. The differences between Serco and Itani stations aren't that much.

There are very few Serco/Itani specific ships (only one each). Surely they should use completely different ship designs, with UIT ones (exisiting ones) the only case where they can buy the same types of ships.

Asteroids should look more rounded (like some do already) and the ice crystals should be more detailed (very spikey sharp, lots of sides crystal).

Ships should be disabled when they are very badly damaged, which could allow people to board it to repair or steal from it.

Sorry if any of these suggestions have already been suggested but this is just a quick list I made after playing the game for a few days.

I like the pirate idea. Though it would be nice if the let us guys who are already pirates keep all our levs and faction. (I do not want to lev up an alt any time soon)

I totally agree, I've been clamoring for that 4th nation for a while now.

I want to touch on a few quick points.

<<_There are currently no really fast ships or really slow ships (I expect the captial ships to be very slow at moving but there needs to be some interceptor ships you can buy that are faster than 65/240)_>>

240 m/s is about the fastest you really want any ship to go, Since combat is twitch based having a top speed is essential, or combat becomes almost impossible because human reflexes cant keep up. If there were to be faster ships added, they would need to fall under the scout/exploration category, having no cargo, no armor, and probably minimal weapons, otherwise they could be abused in combat.

<<_The Big One - There need to be a few ultra powerful weapons, like nuclear mines/rockets that are slow and maybe limited to 1 per slot, but destroy anything nearby. These would be a good threat to capital ships and would require them to be shot before they hit._>>
we had something similar to these at one time, they were called the avalon torpedo. The problem with weapons like these is that if you get point blank and fire one into an unsuspecting small fighter, or a capital ship, or for that matter into a station, you can cause a LARGE amount of chaos and disrupt the game for many people and it'/s extremely difficult to prevent.

<<_Asteroids should be destructable (important for capital ships that would rather go through an asteroid field than around it)._>>
In a single player game, destroyable asteroids are viable, in a MMO having destroyable asteroids leads to problems after they have been destroyed, such as, how do you replace them? Its a persistant universe designed for thoulsands of people(we'll get there, eventually) if asteroids could be destroyed, space would very quickly become completely empty.

<<_Ships should be disabled when they are very badly damaged, which could allow people to board it to repair or steal from it._>>
This idea causes problems, for instance, what if someone's idea of a good time was to fly up behind YOU, disable your ship, and then fly away leaving you stuck in space until you could get someone else to come help you out. In general anything that allows players to become "stuck" is a bad idea in a MMO.

I've lumped the next several ideas together because they have a single response...

All of these are graphical in nature, and fall under the "eye candy" category, and there are only 4 developers, of whom only 1 is a graphic artist. More artwork/visuals will be added as time permits, right now they are focusing on gameplay and content.

You should be able to eject from your ship if left stranded, that way you end up at a random station in the system and can go back and get it (unless it's been destroyed or stolen by someone).

Spellcast covered most though some of what he said has been discussed at length on the boards and some alternative ideas that can make some of your suggestions viable have been suggested and the devs have access to the board. Hopefully they will take a look at them when the time does come for them to start adding the eye candy.

Not some bad suggestions, although nothing that hasnt been said before, hehe. I got a few things to toss in, destructible asteroids wouldnt be an issue, theyve got a program i hear that creates these fields for them, say if A field gets mostly wiped out, the next time that sector is empty and does it restart thing an entirely new roid field is created, possibly being much different from the one that was there, This could be easily atributed to orbits, strays, etc, etc, so on and so forth.

Also, 4th nation, most definatly Corvus needs to be able to be joined by players. However, you should NOT be able to start as corvus, as no one is born a pirate. Also there needs to be some reasonably strict requirements to join corvus, such as, hated by all 3 major factions and at least one minor one, 150 player kills, at least admire status with corvus (preferably +800), and a certain minimum liscense levels. Theres lots more things you could require for it, but that seems like a reasonable set for implementing in the relative short term. As a stipulation, if any of the 3 major factions standing with you get s back up to where they dont try to blast your face off for entering thier space, Corvus should expell you from them, and you return to your original faction, with corvus standing now at -599 And a permanent hike in the prices corvus charges you. Also, as an added bonus, the discussion about selling cargo to corvus could have the stipulation that you have to be corvus and have +1000 corvus for them to take it. That would work pretty well at stoppin abuse, since then only the true pirates would have that option, and you could make corvus's price for the cargo cut rate. Not only that, you could make it so when you sell ctc cargo to corvus, it immediately hits thier buy menu, so a nation could get the cargo back, you would need to set some kind of flag noting it had hit corvus once though, making that unit unsellable to them after the first sale.
