XP loss in Gray Space

Feb 10, 2005 CrippledPidgeon link
I think it's rather silly to me that players with super low levels give exp hits in gray space. I created a 0/0/0/0/0 character specifically to play around in Sedina B8, and the first thing I did was get killed by some UIT... poor guy lost a bunch of combat exp... So I killed the Itani trans, and now it's not a problem. But tonight a different player flew into Sedina B8 as 0/0/0/0/0. He's obviously not a newbie, but caused a -1200 combat exp loss anyway.

I figure that players flying around in Sedina, Odia, and Bractus at superlow levels either know what they're doing, and they're definitely not newbies (and most likely, are acting as targets), or they are newbies and need to be taught a lesson really quickly. In any rate, I feel that at least in Sedina, Odia, and Bractus, there should be no loss of exp for killing low level players.

I agree as well, and also give Martin.mac.au's seal of approval :). However, if we do this, to be safe, while a player is under level 3 in any license, there should be a warning flashed on the hud when warping into grey space that there be dragons.

I totally agree. And not just as a pirate, but as a former noob.

I agree.

Yes, I think this is important actually. I think the warning under level 3 needs to be in place too.

It is silly to have to run from a bus in Sedina.

What if the penelty turned off if the noob attacked you? You'd just get 0 if you killed them after being dammaged by them, until one of you leaves the sector. If you dammage them first then it stays.

I totaly agree as well.
How about also, any players level 3 combat or under upon entering gray space get a warning in the mission tab about the dangers of gray space.

yep that was pretty unanimous, one thing of note though, n00bs should get one big fat nasty HEY YOU ARE GOING TO DIE HERE warning when entering those systems, and it shoudl be right in the middle of thier screeen

If "who hit first" system would work, then that would be better. Otherwise, remove it for grey space but not ukari or edras, because, well, those two have nations in them.

Ah yes, the "Morrowind fault system". Great idea, actually. Simple and workable. A little merciless, but more merciful than the current system. I like it. You have the option to take a hit and make yourself the victim. Of course, in some sectors, nobody cares who the victim is.

I am at a loss with this faction hits in grey space thing. Now mind you, I'm not whining but I feel that something is broke here.
1)A couple of months ago I was attacked by the dred pirate Latin Queen in Edras B-11. OK, no biggie, I shoot her down. Next thing I know I lost all my UIT standing. Well, OK, life goes on.
2)Tonight, I'm escorting the Itani CTC convoy into Jellik in Edras I-2. A few hundred yards from the Jellik gate this UIT guy comes up and starts shooting the transport bot. So, I start shooting the UIT guy and I get this message that I'm about to loose my Itani standing for shooting this guy. So....

a) I thought this was unreg space. It sure looks grey on the map.
b) What's the use of defending the convoy if my own faction is going to punish me for defending it.
c) Why is UIT punishing me for killing a Serco pirate that attacked me first....in grey space.

For right now, as far as I'm concerned, those CTC convoys are on their own. That is, since Itan thinks that A UIT player that is attacking their convoy is more valuable than one of their own, or their precious convoy.

Cheers!
