I was re-reading the backstory and I remembered something that I thought would be awesome to see in-game. In like section IX or X it mentions a great battle between Itani and Serco whee the Itani were highly outnumbered and on the verge of defeat when the Order of Akan showed up and saved their butts in Aeron Ice Filed in Deneb. It then talks about three Goliath Cannons being built 100 yrs later. Personally I think it would be an awesome sight to see thses massive things in action. They could be introduced with the re-introduction of capital ships. And to be a little more player friendly they could only target ships pf a certain size. That way if Serco peoples want to get to Itani space for some reason they could come in smaller fighters. The three Goliath Cannons could have stats something like this.

Armor: 200000
Range: ENTIRE SECTOR (sector not system! They would be placed in the entrance to Deneb)
Damage: 25000

Since they would be attached to asteroids the obvioulsy wouldnt move and mass really wouldnt matter.

I would say too that they could be repaired with the repair guns now available as well as any future repair devices. Also IF they get destroyed, new Itani missions could be inserted upon destruction in order to build a new cannon to replace the destroyed one. This way it entirely depends on players to keep the cannons up and running.

They would not be player controlled. Primarily set to destroy any hated enemies due to low faction standings. OF course the ship would also have to be of a certain size as I mentioned before.

Big Mike, you don't specify any speed for these shots. That would greatly effect wether it was just a silly thing that wouldn't be worth bothering with, or if it were something that would make those sectors impassable for anything it targeted. The sectors are infinitely large a gun with the range of "ENTIRE SECTOR" would mean that ever time it shot and didn't hit anything the server would have to keep track of it's shot as it travelled further and further out into space. Eventually as enough shots were fired it would crash the server (or at least the sector daemon). The devs could implement a some sort of dynamic range such that it would disappear after "passing" all possible targets, but again depending on the speed of the shots it will have an effective range, past which anything would be able to easily dodge it regardless of how large and slow they were (i.e. even a frigate).

One the one hand, it would be very awesome to have the actual Goliath cannons in Deneb.

However, until capital ships and an actual Serco v. Itani war is underway, the Goliath cannons, if made, really shouldn't go too far beyond eye candy. Perhaps a giant wormhole system with plenty of space for capital ship combat and the Goliath cannons somewhere near the 'edge' (say, 10 kilometers from the wormhole) would work. But no ship currently available is worth tearing apart a sector to kill, border guards do just fine.

At some point, though, i presume that Serco will be able to send capital ships into Deneb...this is when the Goliath cannon firing solutions would need work.
