Thicker Roid Fields

Feb 18, 2005 tramshed link
Ok, I know this isnt high priority or anything, but most of the roid fields are rather sparse. Id like to see some roid fields that are straight up dangerous to fight in. It would add another dimension to combat I think. So far the thickest fields ive seen are a few in odia. F11 i think is a rather thick one iirc. Anyways, I heard the devs have some type of program for generating these fields, perhaps you could make us up some real nasty fields, tightly packed with lots of spinning roids to crush your puny ship.

I like this idea. I think it would be cool but also low priority if shooting or crashing into a roid made that roid start to move.

I'm thinking: pilot A1 flies between two roids, being pursued by pilot B. While pilot A1 is clearing the gap, pilot A2 fires flares at one of the roids, causing it to collide with pilot B.

Seconded.

yes, And more sparse asteroids in a few places. Sectors like Odia->sedina hole is fun when you come towards the hole, however its so narrow that a person can escape to the sides very easily.

Making fields harder to traverse, or extending them, makes for a whole different style of combat. gone are the running cents.... * muahahahhaa*

I agree with this as well. Thicker fields would make for some interesting combat. Although I have seen quite a few fields that were VERY dense but they are always off the beaten path so to speak, perhaps just move some of the dense ones to sectors that are more frequently traveled.

And multiply the amount of asteroids at that dense sector by 15. hehehheheheheheeehhehehehhehee

Lots of roids kills fps, but if they used the sharp ones (usually hold iron), maybe it could be doable. If they were all spinning on non-central points (ie: rotating around a point near the surface), that would make it very fun indeed. Mwuhahahaha.

The odds of successfully navigating an asteroid field are approximately 3720 to 1!
